Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

we did for a while think about a chamomile lawn, but ended up just with boring grass!

    Happy Sunday!

Healing issues to boob still a major issue and no progress.  Causing me great distress.  Rest of healing from op going well I think - not where I thought I'd be but progressing.

But have decided I need to gently increase my activity despite my boob - that is dressed up to the nines and all held together by a bra.  So have set myself a gentle target for this week of a total of 3000 steps a day.  Just been for a short walk which with my little steps at moment was 1500 towards the total.  Signs of spring - catkins and early flowers.

Hope you are all keeping your spirits up and your legs walking xx

  • Ooo ...yes yes yes to the camomile lawn...lovely idea!!

and ...so sorry your healing is slow, but goodon you for getting out and having a plan.So believe in “ having a plan”!!  I made myself go gym twice a week and it has been two years now!!(well I am still on warm-ups but active!!!)

I have been to Church this morning...and was feeling a bit lonely and  I went to thanka little older lady who had been so complimentry to me after the Church Carol Concert about how I looked,to thank her.(my confidence had been blasted by someone)

She was so understanding...These people are GEMs!!

(I had left a cellgroup 2 years ago as it was only men and I felt I couldnt share about my breast cancer)

I have found another which has sprung up nearby, all middle aged lovely ladies who love singing...

Do you know the first thing i noticed about her was the handmade handbag which her sister Mary had made..and which was obv handmade which she uses EVRY DAY...can you believe how I LOVED it!!!(I love hand made sewn things)

I am sure God looks after the sparrow.

  • AnnJac,

so sorry this healing is taking so long, hope it improves soon, bless you....And well done for trying to increase activity, that in itself will improve blood supply which should help you to heal.

Violetsniff, that was lovely of you, and yes, it’s great to see people use handmade things.

Walk/wheel today, I walked, hubs wheeled as it seemed too lovely a day to stay in, but it clouded over! Pah! I was ok but he began to get a bit cool. Still, he only put on a very thin fleece.....

we did almost 3 miles though.

  • Beautiful photos, and , such a lovely day again although chilly in the shade!

I wish they would find that magic wand to help you to heal, you are great to get out walking and it must be good to be in the fresh air. But so frustrating for you that it is taking so long, so wearing to be in pain and discomfort.

Managed to get out with hubby and dog

More trees! I love them at this time of year, still bare of leaves but such great outlines against a blue sky.

    Happy walkies to all, HFxx

  • Hi all

I forced myself out with the dragon boat team today. We were at a new venue so didn't want to miss it - hopefully it will have done me good and shifted my cold a bit. It was such a beautiful sunny and warm day - other paddlers and rowers were out in T shirts and shorts!

Sadly, although the new venue is much bigger and cleaner, it's not very picturesque, so no photo opportunities. Will have to find something photo worthy on the journey!

Hope you all got some sunshine today!

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
