Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • , snow!! Ours isn't sticking, got very wet especially when a car drive through a puddle and soaked me.

, well done making the lunch as well as the CT, and good luck with the result xx

Went to Tai Chi at Maggies again, and really enjoyed it.

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

Just started snowing here at hospital.  Doesn't affect my walking.  Last two walks I've had to call nurse to rescue the naked man who wanted to join me!  Pulled in hospital!  Poor old fella had some serious brain surgery from the state of his head which was where I was looking!  Pic of snow attached . . .

  • you are having a very exciting time on that ward!! You'll be like the pied piper before you get out, I'm looking forward to hearing about your next follower! Lucky you have a sense of humour.... wishing you sweet dreams, hope they're giving you some help on the sleep front. xxx

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

  • Hi....you have done so well with your route marches!!

the thing I don’t like  about Hospitals is there are no pretty pictures or home comforts.I wish there was a games room...we had one at ours,we got awarded some money with Kings Fund all those years ago,and had a side area built which looked out onto the little garden which we built.Hospitals!!please feed the soul too!!Just saying....

I went to the gym yesterday and took my boxing gloves for a cursory knock about.I actually wouldn’t say boo to a goose, but after that I actually swaggered back home and noticed I was walking upright!!blimey, and it was only a punch bag!!felt so much better having vented a few things....

had such a repartee with the trainer, who taught me a bit about boxing in the past(against pads). He asked if I had used the bag,and I said,”yes,I was a bit afraid of using your pads,I might have hurt you”

He threw back his head and laughed and laughed as he always does xxx(he is actually 6 feet of pure muscle and really rather gorgeous )

  • Good for you, AnnJac! At least, looking out at the snow, you’re inside and warm!

today daughter is here with walking boots so after a very late night last night - she arrived having had a bump in her car, (fortunately scratched paintwork only) another driver had driven into her, and a further driver got involved and was very threatening, so after exchanging names and addresses she drove off but had long chats on the phone last night to the Met police (it was in south London) we will hopefully go off fo a walk once we’ve got going and fed our faces!

Lots of chat about life, the universe and everything else I suspect!

    Hugs to you all xxx

  • Well done doing boxing , will really boostyour confidence. I remember years ago at a self defence class run by my karate club my daughter was encouraged to. punch the instructor as hard ss she could. She was a bit hesitant but he said confidently that she couldn't hurt him. She went for it and broke 2 of his ribs! Don’t underestimate yourself!
