Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Definitely any activity counts  ! And swimming is a great all rounder. I finally got back to Nordic walking this morning. 6 mile walk, but we chat as we walk so the time passes really quickly! Pub afterwards for a coffee and bowl of soup. Very cold, but had lots of layers and of course the added arm action helps to keep warm. No photos as too difficult with gloves and poles. It was a lovely varied walk, fields, woods, small amount of road work. Felt great to be back with the group. Xx

  • Shorter walk today but in beautiful sunshine. Walked the dog into nearby countryside, lovely mix of fields, woods and river. Very lucky to have this on my doorstep. Hardly passed a soul as it’s a weekday I guess. Love to all, HFxx

  • 6 miles is good  Quite pleasant out when wrapped up. Walk around village. Found my polo pancho … nice and toasty.

  • Managed a walk today.  I get quite anxious driving in the snow so decided to walk to doctor as had appointment.  20 mins on slippy pavement or road in -4 at 830 this morning.  No pics as was wrapped up with walking pole for assistance. Another 15 mins to chemist as got more antibiotics as still have chest infection that had the week before Xmas. Being sent for ECG as she concerned about my pounding heart which I'm sure is a side effect of tamoxifen. Working from home. Supposed to be dropping to -7 tonight. Working from home tomorrow.  I'm fortunate that I can. At least I managed a little exercise. I'm trying to do more. Trying being the important word! Xx

  • Good you can work from home and keep out of the cold  I hope the antibiotics do the trick. Good you’re getting checked out. Well done for doing some walking. Have a good night x

  • My usual walk on a very frosty morning, spotted a frosted hedgerow looking good against the sky.

  • Walked around a hospital this morning as hubby had an appointment then we had to wait a while for a prescription hence going for a corridor walk. Masked as usual.

    No hospital photo.

  • Yesterday we walked in the nearby country park. The trails are waymarked so easy to follow. The trees are Eucalyptus and so tall. It fascinates us.

But today we have walked uphill on the trail behind our rented house. Only 3km but very steep!

    The views from the top.....stunning...

  • Beautiful photos   Looks like a lovely place for your long awaited break. Love the frosted hedgerow  !
I got back to the gym at last yesterday afternoon , just a quick session with my friend, a much shortened version of my ‘programme’ as it was so long since either of us had been. Also got back to my exercise class this morning, so more weights! I can feel it tonight, particularly on the side of my op. But good to get back to both, I’m hoping to be better about going to the gym this year. We’ll see! Short dog walk after my class but no photos.
