Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Lovely garden and walking pics. Have been out walking this morning... hot.

“ The only constant thing in life is change “

  • Thankyou,and I hope you all didn’t get too hot yesterday…

my old Nursing Sister came to take me out,we have been friends ever since I had cancer and came with me to some appointments…then asked if I would like to join Knit and Natter.(Nurses are born ,not made )

so we eventually came to a bridge and canal walk (after getting a little lost)and it was the most perfect walk, through a glade of trees overhanging the duck and her ducklings and a gorgeous meal after.

I ma the one in the silly specs…hmmmmm…. sorry she got me to do a silly pose and then she danced in the hayfield like the girl in only the crumbliest flakiest chocolate ! Xx

  • I did stroll a bit in the Zoo today, enjoyed seeing this wee fella, such a poser!

    What a handsome chappie!
WellI did post and put some photos on here yesterday, but as soon as I hit reply, they went off into the atmosphere!!I did try a few times.

So here is what I did yesterday…went for a mooch round the shops and bought a beautiful hand-stitched thing for a Vintage shop.I was going to get a beautiful little handbag with flowers on ,thinking it was Vintage(I.e.over 50 years’ old…but the lady said it was about the 90’s.Well to be that is modern!!!

anyway had a lovely time talking with her,I am sure Lockdown has made people ever so much more friendly!!

actually it won’t let me upload my beautiful photos grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • A wet walk (a mile each way) as I needed to take my contact lens liquids for a recall refund. They hadn’t any replacement and ran out of cash in the store too so advised either a bigger brack of Boots or to leave it a few days.
I was soaked when I got in, in spite of the brolly, now stripped off and changed and had some lunch.
no pics except of a blocked drain (no I won’t post it here) to demonstrate how inadequate maintenance leads to huge puddles whenever it rains!

  • Not wanting to be a grump, but I totally am with you with going out in the pouring rain.

in recent years I have had some things which have had to go back.In the olden days there would at least have been an apology. But not when I took my rather expensive earrings back to a store which will remain nameless.I couldn’t get them in my ear even after an hour of trying. So after researching, found that they were the most inexpensive, and walked back to the shop.It was cold and extremely windy,an unpleasant walk.

When I told the assistant she went straight to her machine to give me a refund.I said they just didn’t work. When I left I am sure she and the other young assistant were moaning about me.

The other recent thing was I went into a well known store for a new fridge.I had done research etc but needed the assistant’s help. She sat me down and went thro her Ipad, and I saw the one I wanted.I was just asking her some salient questions and a young child was standing there screaming next to me.So that I couldn’t even hear the assistant. The oarents we’re there and soon their two small children were running round the store screaming and laughing. The parents were immune and just stood behind my assistant waiting for her help. There were other assistants in the shop. This went on for at least 20 minutes and I said to the assistant that I was finding it hard. She then went to get another assistant for them.I don’t understand what has happened to customer care.

    Is it just me?

On the the other hand there are assistants of all ages who are extremely good and helpful and understanding, when you go shopping.

sorry just had to have a rant.
now I will try again to put a nice photo on

  • Nice photos people.

Sorry about your unpleasant shop experiences

Can anyone identify this plant? I put some mixed seeds in months ago and this has been the only grower.  ??

  • Hi Snowys mum,

I think it’s a corncockle. They’re becoming rarer so are being included in wild flower mixes to help spread them about.
