So in   5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.

Why in the last few days have I become incredibly tired and emotional ??
Did anyone else feel the same?
  • Jackie and Bigguy....

Joining you on the questioning chemo. I know I am totally overreacting but just watching an overtired 8 yr old set off home I really dont know if I could manage if this was to keep happening. I am lucky in that I havent actually felt too unwell but the impact on the 3 of us just from cycle 1 is enough to make me very anxious about what lies ahead.

But as Leo Churchill says......WE SHALL FIGHT!!

7.47 and the blood test I need today still hasn't happened....time to go FIGHT the NHS incompetence.

  •  Oh Joanne I was really hoping to read that you were on your way home today.

Wish I lived nearer because I would definitely be up for a game of UNO and of course a bit of visiting.

Did have a chuckle about the old boy in the room opposite :-D

Anyway hope you have a good party with Libby and that tomorrow brings you some good news on your release xxxx

  •  Our posts crossed.

I can imagine you would question continuing chemo and not to be flippant about that but I really think having the injections after each cycle will help you going forward. It’s a tough battle but I know you are made of strong stuff and will fight.

    Sending love xxxxxxx

Wow how much have I missed

Jammy Hope you are out of hospital.

Well a few have mentioned bone pain with the injections, please be aware you do not have to put up with it  take clarytin antihistamine once a day and ask for different injections I did no bone pain the next time.

After a weeks delay because of DVT's and puffy arm I did have cycle 4 today my first T cycle. I have been put on injections for 6 months for blood clots, once a dat in tummy yuk. Chemo unit said they have asked for another picc to be fitted as my veins are useless and it took 6 hours today first hour to find vein then wait for bloods and then slowly feed in chemo as veins are thin.

Sorry for not keeping up with everyone I have just felt bad after DVT was found and needed to try to get my head around having T part with no picc line, was very scared about it.

    Stay strong

Hope everyone has had a good week, mine started ok but gone downhill fast, daughter came down with sickness bug, now hubby got it, just know I’ll be next, that’s all I need, had 7/23 zaps of rt now so my immune system will be low. I’m worrying it will bugger up my treatment ( that or the dreaded snow that’s supposed to be on it’s way). There’s always something to worry about isn’t there?

Hope the T cycles are kind to you after all you have been through so far. Least now you are oficially past the half way point and moving closer to the finish line. It took a junior doctor 5 attempts to get blood from me the other day and she was saying I need to get chemo nurse to refer me for one but then they dont seem to have probs cannulating so far...see how chemo no 2 goes next week.

    Take care

  • Jammy update.... I am home!

From being 0.05 on Tues night and then only 0.26 Thursday evening my neutrophils decided they quite liked multiplying and went up to 0.86 in 24 hours. So was released from jail an hour ago, now surveying the house to see what has/hasn't been done during the 4 days of daddy rule! He has washed all the bedding I'll give him that so I have clean sheets tonight.

Dr seems to think cycle 2 will go ahead on  Friday as planned but got onco appt on Weds to review things...he said will def need some adjustments i.e injections this time although to be fair my body seems good at making the white blood cells when that part comes they just arent comfortable that they dropped so very low to start with.

So going to be a good girl and rest uo now these next few days whilst get over the infection, got good few days of antibiotics too to help out. Feel ok in myself just really tired after 4 nights rubbish sleep in hospital.

How is everyone else today? Think its a busy wk next wk....Bigguy, Deb, Jackie and me have chemo and Jac has RT...anyone else joining us?

    Take care folks!

    Joanne

  • Yay well done Jammy neutrothingies

  • Jdperry - I'm glad the rt is going well I've also had family full of colds and I've caught a cold but thankfully it's not turned into anything more as I have my 3rd Chemo next week so fingers crossed it will be the same for you! The sun is shining in Staffordshire so I'm hoping the snow will stay away, good luck with the rest of your treatment it wont be long until you are treatment free Deb xx
