The operation

So in   5 days time I have the operation to remove the tumour - randomly known as Ian.

Why in the last few days have I become incredibly tired and emotional ??
Did anyone else feel the same?
  • Hi Debs - yup the best thing that’s happened since September, I’m just so relieved.

It did all come good but the pressure of it was insurmountable at the time, BC has taught me to keep my mouth shut and a lid on it though :-D

My itchy head started by day 3 and has increased to having my hands strapped to my side. I didn’t go for the cold cap as it adds time and I didn’t see enough people it worked for. I have very fine hair and if it had thinned out anymore I would have still worried. I really hope it works for you.

Strange really, BC is so scary at the beginning  but the thought of losing my hair was honestly my main fear and I just couldn’t get it out of my mind.

Today I can’t wait for it to go, I have planned to have a shorter trendy style and a new colour when it comes back, a new me!!

Hope you have a great weekend too Deb.

  • Hi Jacks  im not really in this thread but I like to celebrate good news. I remember my relief when the oncologist let my Bcn phone me to say my scans were clear   I rang hubby and he was just going to eat his dinner but left it as he felt sick with relief !  So pleased for you onwards and upwards xx

  • Hi Jackie

So so pleased scans were clear that will make a masdive difference now as when you are having a bad day chemo-wise you will be more assured that once treatment over you will be able to move forward knowing the BC was contained to breast. Glad the side effects easing a little and should improve each day now over weekend. Can only imagine the stress leading uo to being seen yesterday, all the cock ups and waiting take it out of you dont they?

I have to say if it was just me I wouldn't bother with cold cap but I very gently and briefly mentioned the hair loss issue to Libby the other day and for the first time in all this her little face looked so upset. So have said to hubby will give it a go for her sake. Way I see it,we have someone managed to get from 13 Oct to now with no impact on her. She said last night shevus the happiest girl alive (I'm crying just typing that!) I know there is no way of getting around that there will some upsetting times for her if I am ill with chemo so anything I can do so make any element easier its worth a go.

Leo- love the blue tits comment. I def think they lie when they say the dye fades...mine is still v blue!

Deb - fingers cross the itching goes away and if you do lose anything it's just few strands. Really should make a hair appt to get mine cut shorter but don't want to do anything chemo prep related until after Thursday....staying in denial till then lol!!

Struggling to find my mojo this morning so if anyone finds it give it a telling off and tell it to come back. Been upbeat all week so going to get off sofa and find something positive to do until parents come down this afternoon.

    Take care everyone x

I found it. I’ve dusted it off. Given it a nice new haircut, painted it’s nails and a facial. So I’m sending her right back to you as she is ready to sparkle and shine with you.

    Take care lovely lady

Leolady mine is still bright blue too now last lot of bruising has gone

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

  • Thank you Leolady, just what I needed...can feel my sparkle returning already! In fact just running a bath so might give myself bit of a pamper and paint nails etc (risk incurring the wrath of Libby who likes to be in charge of nail painting!)

    Love you x

My goodness what busy bees i see....

Leo, you've got to have been the operation thread champion, but i see you're now a community champion...you go girl. Now i can put a face to the name as you have a profile pic too!

Jacks, delighted to hear scans are clear, itchy head not as much fun, but lots of positives wayhey

Bingo card will get updated, when i can get on the real computer....lots fo extras to add, blue tits, itchy scalps, clear scans.......

I've finally made it to friday, shattered, ready to curl in corner, but no rest for the wicked. Hoping next week will be less mental than how this has turned out so can chill into RT.

Aww thanks. Just wanting to pay it back and pay it forward. My heart is always in this thread

Well have a restful weekend Jolly you deserve it.

Monday is appt day but I've a weekend celebrating niece's 30th (sadly her amazing daddy my big adorable bro no longer with us to celebrate) Then it's a burn's Night celebration in the local. I am doing that only to be supportive of local business. Believe that if you will.

Sat wearing my CRUK wrist band in supportive of 4th Feb.

So Jolly you are a few steps ahead of me.

Bro in law had his prelim for RT in Hull today a massive round trip for them both. It took 2 goes to get it right. Been messaging my big sis all afternoon. Bless her.

Right meant to be full of joy. Off for a gallop.

    Take care

Leolady thankful for all the lovely ladies she has met via this site

Hope you have a less hectic weekend and get plenty of sleep. Big week for you coming up but by this time next week you will have couple of RTs behind you.

Can't think of a better person to be a commuity champion. Love your profile picture too. Sounds like a lovely weekend planned, should keep your mind off Monday nicely.

So no appointments for any of us for 2 days and as always hope the chemo side effects get the memo about weekend and leave Ali, Jackie, Jbee, Bigguy and Deb well and truly alone!

Just ringing bank to borrow few million to deal with today's Libby expenses.....school photo (bloody nice photo of her but christ they know what to charge), school trip, new dance shoes x 3...the list goes on. On a plus note, my super duper boss emailed some links to our HR pages and has found out it is possible to go from sick straight  to annual leave (recent change to policy). This might help us financially a little as BCN was saying should take a further month off after CT and RT finish to recover...I will be on half pay by then so can maybe now think aboyt using some leave then....likely to be school hols by then too so would save on child care. Lony way off but lessens money worries a little!

    Wishing everyone a lovely weekend

    xx
