Hi Everyone

I'm new to this group but unfortunately not new to the community. My dad is currently 6 weeks in to his cancer journey with devastating stage 4 malignant melanoma (with brain, lung and liver mets).

I've been supporting him and doing everything I can but now I find myself in a scary waiting position. I have a lump in my left breast. For a few weeks I've noticed when I wake up that I had tiny spots of blood on my pyjama top -  I do get spots on my chest so didnt think anything of it until the weekend when I realised the blood had been coming from my nipple. I got an appointment with my GP first thing yesterday and she said there was definitely a lump. Its quite tender and I have a strange session in my breast - I cant really describe it - I guess im just aware that something is 'there'.

Has anyone had similar symptoms? Im praying its not sinister but I have a heavy heart and im thinking the worst. I have a referral for scans next Thursday

    Hi

I'm sorry you find yourself with us, but it's good that you are getting checked so quickly.  I'm not going to lie, it doesn't look like you will get an all clear, but on the plus side, breast cancer is very treatable and whilst the treatment isn't always a walk in the park, it is not usually the death sentence that people perceive.

I'm snowed under at the moment but I am sure others will be along to add their comments and support.  The main thing is you are here and we can help you through.

(I was diagnosed over 6 years ago and still here!)

  • Hi so sorry your having such a worrying time, looking after your father as well you have got enough to think about, at least you are getting it sorted, early diagnoses is so important, it might be an infection so try not to worry to much, the treatment for BC is treatable now better than it was year's ago, please come on here if you need a chat we have all been there , let us know how you are.

    Hi lelotron.

I'm sorry you are having such a bad time with your Dad and this added worry.its great you are getting it looked into, it may be nothing, fingers crossed it's nothing I unfortunately had similar not blood from my nipple but a red raw rash and a tingling sensation my breast was tender for years if my kids leaned against me etc. Mine turned out to be Paget's disease and I had DCIS as well that was a year ago I had lumpectomy and radiation and now I'm fine hopefully you will get the all clear Pagets is really rare less than 5% I believe, best of luck let us know how you get on

Hi Lelotron, just to say I will be thinking of you. I was almost in your exact same situation earlier this year re breast cancer and dying parent, my mum had pancreatic cancer and there was nothing I could do about my own health until she had been cared for until the end. I left going to doctor until I had helped mum reach a peaceful end. I know how hard it is caring for someone at the end of their life and knowing you potentially have a life-limiting disease yourself as well, but remember that the treatments for breast cancer are excellent and if like me you have had to leave it a little while before you can do anything about it, it is not probable that in that time frame everything will have gone mad and metastasised as my surgeons reassured me! I was really worried about that happening. But I am now out the other end and had a mastectomy, on hormone treatment now, and I am sure you will get there too. It is a nightmare at the time but you can do it, and you will get this dealt with. My sincere thoughts are with you and your father at this time as well

Thank you for taking the time to reply. My appointment is now tomorrow evening 17.50. I am driving myself mad googling my symptoms. I have a constant aching in the left side of my left breast going right up in to the middle of my armpit. I've had more bloody discharge too. My heart is constantly pounding from my worry.

    Hi Lelotron

My sister in law had a blood discharge from her nipple and left going to gp for ages. Anyway she finally did and was referred to a breast clinic. Turned out to be nothing sinister and an infection.  I hope yours is the same

    Take care
