Hi
I am taking letrozole since last September, my pharmacist is always giving me different brands, never femara, I am trying to get my doctor to get this brand for me as I have lots of side effects, the main one is tinnitus does anyone else get this symptom? I have had tinnitus before but never this loud
I've not heard of this as a SE before. Have you checked the list of SEs?
Mind you, I have developed mild tinnitus in recent months. I didn't associate it with the AI (I take Arimidex) but I'm about to do some more research. I'll let you know if I come up with anything interesting.
Thanks
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, hope to get things sorted
Best wishes to all
Bear in mind most doctors don't understand the thyroid, so do mention that there is a link and it's on the tinnitus association website! Be prepared for a fight!
This is interesting. I'm on Tamoxifen, but for the last couple of months I've had a sound which I can only describe as a summer field full of crickets humming away in my left ear. It was blocked with wax for a while and I had to put drops in then get it syringed. I thought the sound might go away once it settled down, but it didn't and I've been thinking I need to go back to the GP.
It never occurred to me that it could possibly be a side effect of any medication, but now I'm wondering. Looks like I'll have to do a bit of research too.
Hi
I've been on Letrozole for 24 weeks and during that time I developed the loudest tinnitus ever . I've looked into it and lie oestrogen can cause tinnitus.
My tinnitus has impacted on my life so much that I have no quality of life i struggle to shower as the noise of the water hurts my ears . I've stopped my treatment as right now i have no life
Jen
I've only been on it six weeks, but have a quiet hissing sound. My face and head also feel tingly sometimes (though that could be from the Paclitacel!)
Sorry, duplicate posting!
Hi @josiebc. I just noticed your reply to a thread that's quite old so I wanted to jump in, just in case no one else comments back. It might be worth having a chat with your GP, just to see if the tinnitus is related to your letrozole or something else. Best wishes
