  •   that is horrific! I’m so very sorry! And yes, please don’t use steroid cream on an open wound, particularly as it may well now be infected!

I think you need to raise that issue with the practice manager, it’s really so very bad.

I’d suggest getting some sterile swab packs and use an antiseptic cream with one swab at a time folded under your boobs. And maybe ask for a nurse appointment either at your practice or even raise the problem with your BCN. I think you remain in their care for a full 5 years post treatment.

  •    She’s obviously in the wrong job !! Also the Gp practice needs some Customer service training your email should have been passed up the line not to the person the complaint was about !

  • So agree  . I have peripheral neuropathy from Taxotere, but nowhere as bad as yours. I remember AnnJac, poor girl.Having said that I am glad to be alive after 14 years. This in no way negates what you are going through xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Thank you  . So sorry your boyfriend had to go through 2 ops. Hope he is recovering now xx

  • Unbelievable  ! Steroid cream without antibiotics and or anti fungal cream is not correct treatment. What she did with the swab is negligent. Her aggressive attitude is the cinch on the cake. This warrants an official complaint to the practice manager , and if necessary to the authority. If you feel strong enough to deal with it. You can be sure that a complaint will really frighten her. That is the reason for the aggression. Can you get support from your husband for this. Sending .lots of gentle hugs and love xxxx

  • Also,  , and I should have said this first, you need to access proper assessment and treatment over the weekend. As a diabetic you are at increased risk of infection. Good luck and take care xx

  •   OMG I am utterly horrified about both incidents. The breast skin being split....what the heck where they thinking. Then....OMG this awful incident with the swab. This needs to be reported to the NMC (nursing and midwifery council) and the person suspended immediately.

They have put a dirty swab on your broken skin???

Please, if not for yourself, you need to stop this person practicing in health care. Ask to speak to the practice manager and say you wish to report this to their professional regulator. They are unfit to be anywhere near patients.

  • You most certainly are not over reacting.  She was totally unprofessional.  She should have gotten a new swab stick straight away.  She had absolutely no right to be rude and aggressive to you.  As seaspirit and Snowy's Mum said, you should report her to the relevant authorities.

I hope the score clears up soon.

    Mind yourself. xx

  •   I feel so sorry for your experience….I am so ashamed for the profession that she did that with a dirty swab and then became defensive and aggressive!

You did exactly the right thing!
I remember telling a trained nurse off for examining my wound without cleaning her hands,or using gloves,a day or two after my breast cancer op .She gave me the filthiest look.

I think there are so many wonderful nurses,I have worked with many many, but there is always the odd one…. So sorry for you xxx
