  • My heating is working at last although after 4 hours the house has still only got to 11 degrees!

Apparently it is not the boiler. Itbis tge gas supply and inlet meter which is outside the remit of the engineer who came today. So back chasing BG. I have spent £130 I'm 6 days on gas and electric!

  •  wiw that's a lot .  We have a wood burner as my heating system old in my 1950s 4 bed semi.  Normally if we both home all day we just light fire now but the price of wood has rocketed.   We taken delivery off of two huge bags £448.  £180 more than last year.  Should see us through to end of year though my hubby keeps giving son in law a small bag every time he calls in.  I highly recommend Primark fur lined leggings .  They quite tight fitting like thick tights so go up a size if you like a bit loser.  Only about £8.  I was home all morning with no heating on doing paperwork and didn't feel at all cold.  Wore them out to shops , didn't feel chilly.  I also bought quite neat fitting zip up fleeces in M&S outlet.  Two for £20.  They lovely and warm without looking like a scruff.

  • Wow,  I hope they will prioritise getting your heating sorted?

I’ve got a pair of those Primark fleecy trousers, bought them for winter yoga classes, but I’ve got quite a few base layer leggings too, wearing them under trousers does keep me warm enough. I’ve also got 3 pairs of fleecy lined trousers too, which look ok.

Think about a throw wrapped round you while sitting still too. And hot water bottles/microwave heat pads.

I found yesterday tougher than today as there was much more of a windchill when dog walking. (He didn’t like it either especially when it started to hail)

  • I have spent the day with a hot water bottle, a blanket and a cat on my lap plus woolly hat and gloves! I really need to go to Chester to Primark and get some of those leggings.

Thanks for the suggestions Grogg and Moomy.

Wow that is a lot to spend on wood! Yes our Woodburn helps heat the back of the house but I struggle to keep it burning more than 10 minutes!

I am tucked up in bed with 2 hot water bottles and one of the cats. Ii have been indulgent and eaten moussaka and chips!

  • Sending a big warm hug,

  • My hubby woodburner expert.  He's obsessed with it...  He only burns beech, leave a draft while it's lighting, then once fully lit shut door and use vents to control air.  Beech burns longer and hotter.  I put a log on at 10.45am today and it was still burning at 1pm (we can use coal too so if we want to keep fire in overnight we put a layer of coal).  Now I'm imagining the smell of a hotwater bottle.  Childhood memories flooding back.

In other news I managed to get Greggs TooGoodTogo bags again today.  Best ever.  I had 2 bags and contents in each bag was 3 baguettes, 4 donuts.  All for £2.79 per bag.  In each of bags one of the baguettes was a vegan southern fried chicken plus donuts were vegan so my daughter and son in law sorted for their lunch tomorrow now.  I've had a few from Greggs, always different stores but this my best.  My worse was 7 cakes in one bag & 3 pasties (you don't know filling and they were beef or steak and I hate those.   Perhaps the sales lady updated my bags at the back when I went to collect as we were buying a roll and coffee for a homeless guy and a £10 gift card so he can get something tomorrow and she thanked us for helping him out.  My hubby had convo with him as he had army bergen so he asked him if ex forces.  He said no and asked my hubby if he was.  He said no, ex police and bloke pulled a face and said he was homeless as he'd been in prison for fighting and no one would give him a job.  We never give those living on the street money but we will always buy them a drink or food.  We thought Greggs doing tokens where you can buy and give to homeless for them to get food but not in my City so gift card was next best thing.

  • Do we have a credit score agency expert on this forum.  Strange situation my SIL in panic as his twin says their credit scores linked.  My SIL has perfect credit but his score medium.  He has no outstanding debt aside from mortgage (no car loans, CC nil balance).  Obviously different home address but they share a birthday and previous address.  His brother could see his CC information.  He's rung bank and they said nothing their end, ring credit agency but they closed at 6.  Surely this is a data breach by someone.

  • Hi all for one of my daughters Xmas presents I bought her a waist hot water bottle ..it Velcro fastens around waist ,back, neck wherever you wish Joy it also has pouch for hands .

She uses it when driving home from wild swimming in the freezing North Sea I got her a novelty one but I believe you can get plain ones would work very well to keep warm in house .

it’s hard to descibe what she looks like with snoodie ,leggings .,slipper boots fluffy hat and massive dry coat then hot water bottle attatched Joy I have warned her that I will have to disown her if the car breaks down Joy
