Santababy...pleased it's over and done with..just hope you are feeling more comfortable?
seaspirit44 what horrible, horrible people...well done for reporting them!
My day has been quiet and achy. Went for a walk this morning and halfway round I realised I had probably walked too far! So this afternoon I've rested...and sweated and flushed..
Oh how I curse hot flushes! I half woke just after 6am and immediately one grabbed me and didn’t ease off till almost 7! By which time of course I needed to start getting into gear!
hey ho.
Museum was good but sadly my colleague didn’t make it, car troubles, his wife’s is off the road and then his had a flat tyre! So sadly though I did manage to chat a bit, I wasn’t able to spend as much time with Mag123 as I wanted - yes, she visited the museum!!! Lovely to meet her.
it was a busy day with lots of really interested people, loads of questions.

night everyone sleep well
Hoping all the Fruit Loops are having a nice weekend. I think we are lucky with how nice the days are at the moment and I'm prepared for them to change at any minute .... finding the nights seem to be fairly chilly.
I've got a couple of nice plants in the garden, one is a geranium and the other two are large busy lizzy type (these have thick stems, but would snap if you bent them and are water when broken) ....
I'm not sure if I'd
a) be able to save them till next year and/or
b) how would I do it or isn't it worth the effort.
(I haven't got a green house, I have a veranda - that is warm ('ish) during the day and fairly chilly/cold during the winter nights).... any suggestions or advice please?
Well Fruit Loops - I'm off to make a cup of tea and look at what I can find to eat - so low on food... no crisps hardly any chocolate.... I need some crisps arrrghh.... I do need to do a home delivery - just can t be a**ed .... bothered.
Night Night - Sending love and hugs to you all xxxxx
WhatHappened I do manage to keep geraniums most winters but not outside. I have a garage which I use for plants in winter. They need less water but mustn't dry out. You can also take cuttings which would grow on an inside windowsill or if you have a very sheltered outside spot. A frost of any degree will kill them. To take the cuttings look at the stem of your plant. You will find little shoots of leaves coming off them which look like a small plant. Use a knife and slice this small plant from the stem. Push it into the compost in a new pot. I use the edge of the pot and put 6/ 10 cuttings in one pot. I can keep mine on the outside windowsill because I have shutters to close at night but also not too much frost .
I have never had any success with busy lizzies. In the garden, they die immediately there's a frost but I haven't managed to keep them in the garage either. Fuchsia 's are fine in the garage all winter.
This geranium just had it's fourth summer and some of the pink were last year's cutting. I usually buy some new ones from Lidl offers....3 for 2 ....to make sure I have strong plants for cuttings.
Hope that helps a bit. I too shall be interested if anyone has mastered keeping Busy Lizzies . (impatiens)
Thank you Lacomtekp fso much for this advice
Your flowers are so beautiful, so nice to see such colour.
Will you 'just' pick the tub up with the red geranium in and carry into garage as it is .... ( not really 'just' with the size of this but you know what I mean).
With regards to the geraniums you keep in the garage.... do you:-
Cut the plants down or leave them as they are (or just take off the old flower stems).
Is the garage dark - do they need light etc.
We shall wait to see about the busy lizzies ... I know I'm impatient hahahaha - only joking - trying to spread a smile on this Sunday.
I believe we have bad weather coming in towards the end of the week - although they are now saying earlier in the week..... if we have to have this I'd like it as late in the week as possible.....
We had a tree come down last week (a protected tree) that fell though our fence and onto the neighbours 'car' (its been on his drive for 20 years and is as rusty and rusty as can be) and also caught the end of one of his other cars! (insurance won't cover - arrrrghhhh).....
There are more trees like the one that fell with no wind or rain etc - we have tree surgeons coming in on Tuesday afternoon (as they are on another job) - then coming back the week after - now I am worrying, just want to get the rest 'safe' ..... I'm praying that the men can get the work done and that no others come down on their own
Wishing everyone a nice Sunday xxx
Awwww, WhatHappened, trees can be such a worry! That’s one of the reasons we took down the olive tree, apart from which it was actually loosening the ground anyway. It took a few weeks, big branch by big branch, then a friend came round with a chain saw to take the trunk down, which is still lying in the back garden by the shed. I must remember to ask the girls if they want it for the log burners now it’s been down a couple of years.
They have had tree surgeons round to drastically cut back the huge ash tree at the end of their garden. Cost a bit….!
