Hi Terrified2 welcome sorry you find yourself a member of this club . If you are here you have found the best place to be under the circumstances . We can honestly say we know how you are feeling . My story is on profile just click o. My name to have a read .
As others have said this is the worst time …the waiting …your imagination is having a wild time it can tell you anything it wants it knows you will believe it’s horror stories . The good thing is by the time you get your plan and start treatment you learn reality is not as bad as imagination told you .
I had 8 days from diagnosis to Mastectomy in that 8 days I ended up with the tidiest kitchen cupboards and wardrobes I’d ever had . I also batch cooked and baked filling the freezer .
The trick to making the wait a tiny bit easier is distraction anyway you can ..walks ,cinema, days out all things you don’t feel like doing but can distract your mind .
Any questions just ask any one of us here is a link to chemo hints to help you prepare for chemo

Welcome NeedingHope. May I suggest you don't Google things. You will come across a great deal of scary misinformation which is not relevant to your particular situation but will put the wind up you. I agree that if you need reassurance from your oncologist you should speak with him/her.Try ringing the onco's secretary and ask for a phone appointment.
Terrified2 it is such a scary situation and one we none of us thought we would be in. I am usually someone who needs to have had all the answers and looked at all scenarios before I do anything but I found once I received my diagnosis that just going with the flow and trusting that the doctors are dealing with this sort of situation daily and would give me the best care was a better way forward for me. It meant I delayed my reaction to having cancer until after the RT and it hit me then, but I was able to get through the treatment almost in a trance like state. I don't know if that could work for you but I merely offer it up as the way I got through it all. I am probably being of no help at all but please know we are all on this forum to offer support.
I am not making much sense as I had another night of only a couple of hours sleep and a random very scary dream involving travellers taking up residence in my back garden!!
2816 I am glad to hear things are going well for you. I was in complete agony afymter my op and not being someone to use bad language kept saying f a doodle do every time I tried to move. It made my husband laugh anyway!
LondonLass, so sorry you are having such bad sweats. I should have logged on last night and chatted to all you fruit loops who were awake. I have no suggestions regarding the sweats other than, have you tried a wool duvet and pillow? I have found they keep me cozy in Winter but cool in Summer. Perhaps they would help regulate your temperature a little better?
Sending love and hugs to you all. I am off soon to have lunch with 4 old schoolfriend!!
Oh LondonLass I can totally sympathise, I literally drip day and night it’s so uncomfortable. At night I’m constantly covering up with a lightweight cover because I’m cold but 2 minutes later I’m like a bbq, this is repeated for hours. In the day just a walk to the kitchen has sweat pouring from every pore, dripping off end of nose sliding down face from hairline.
Everytime I speak to a medical person I mention it and they always say oh I’ll look into it incase it’s some of your medication etc, but they never come up with anything.
Will be more appreciative in winter maybe as won’t need the heating on, if only the men of the household weren’t so nesh I’d save a fortune xx
Hi
I was doing ok till I met the oncologist registrar last week and struggled since. It's the lymph node thing which has topped me over, and waiting for scan date and then results is dreadful. I've had anxiety before but never anything like this, and my eating is always affected, so forcing things down to try stay healthy. I'm just fearing the worst all of the time, no matter how hard I try to be positive, then that makes me sink again.
Trying to stay busy, making some lasagne meals at the moment, then out with the duster and sweeper.
Big hug to everyone for being there, hope you're having a good day xx
LondonLass, so sorry you are still having these awful sweats. I know you have tried everything, and cannot suggest anything further. Sending big hugs xxx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Oh the sweats! I thought I'd finished with them all, being post menopausal, but whoopee they are back! They come on like a wave, usually starting in between the shoulder blades, and then spread down my back, up into the neck and chest and then up into the head.
I sit here with sweat pouring off me for about 10-15 minutes, and then start feeling chilly...I always let hubby know I'm ' having a moment', because I honestly cannot function properly all the while they are here.
Late afternoon/ evening is my really bad time, and most evening meal times I'm fighting to actually eat. Just the thought of having these for the next 5 years makes me want to cry sometimes, but I know it's a small price to pay if it gives extra security of any recurrences.
Poor hubby is waiting patiently for my mood swings to kick in..I was a horrible snappy person during menopause. So far, fingers crossed , it hasn't happened, just the odd bout of brain fog...such joy!
I was told by a Breast Cancer Now nurse that there is a calc that can be done to show what percentage increased protection one gets from the hormone tablets dependent upon a number of factors pertinent to the individual and the type of cancer they had. If side effects are so terrible we should perhaps be requesting this calc as the nurse told me the lady she had spoken to just before me only had 3% increased protection and so had decided not to continue with the tablets.
Well I could say
or perhaps
but you’ve had nine years !
so I looked it up
then got you a present
and had an idea
hope you on the up again soon
big hugs
First time Dexter been in Cumbria without hubby keeps looking for him to come back think he’s missing him
Ooooh yes, hot flushes….mine seem to start on my forehead and then drip down my nose if I’m straight, or into my eyes if I’m not, and that’s sore!
hmmm….
Night night Fruit Loops, sleep well and stay safe
plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish
hugs xxx
(ps that’s so sweet of Dexter!)
