Hope you have a Fantastic holiday Lacomtekp. I’m sure you’ll make the most of it, whatever the weather! Xx
Arrived back home from our holiday on Friday morning, then back to reality with my Zoladex jab on Friday lunchtime!! Oh the joys! Have pretty much slept since arriving back, but feeling a bit more awake this morning, so hopefully can enjoy the day. Have my darling Niece coming over to open her Birthday presents, she turns 18 tomorrow!!!! How is my Beautiful Niece 18 already!
Just to bring a little reassurance to those at the beginning of their treatment, or those who still worry about their long term prognosis! My Niece was 9 when I was first diagnosed and I can recall having a complete meltdown on her 10th Birthday while I was talking with a Nanny friend and wondering how many more birthdays I would see and if I would see her grow up! Well she’s about to turn 18 and hopefully, subject to her A level results, could be starting at Oxford Uni this year So proud of her and although I live with the uncertainty of what’s going to happen with my secondary cancer, I am very pleased to be around for both of my Nieces!
Grogg I hope your Daughter is getting the support that she needs and I hope you are receiving any support/advice that you might need too! It’s not easy watching a relative going through such a hard time, even if it’s something you have lived with for a long time! Please make sure you look after yourself too. Remember we are all here for you xxxx
seaspirit44 Seagulls are a real nuisance! Devon has real trouble with them, although weirdly I think we have more Seagulls in and around Exeter city centre then we do at some of our beaches! It seems McDonalds is a big hit with them, so pulling rubbish out of a McDonald’s bin is more lucrative than waiting for someone sat on the beach with sandwiches or pasties! I’ve even watched seagulls follow people out of shops and the hospital, carrying a sandwich and as soon as the box is open and the person takes the sandwich out, they swoop in and grab it! Sadly the situation is 1 caused by us taking the fish from the sea and 2 people NOT reading the signs about NOT feeding the gulls. Which brings them inland and creates quite a big issue! Have often seen holiday makers throw the remains of their Fish and Chips across the beach, as 5hey think it’s ‘funny’ to watch the birds all swoop in! Sadly it’s not so funny to the next child or adult who loses their ice cream or lunch to a bird that swoops down on them when they aren’t expecting it! Can be very frightening, especially for little children! Hope the critters don’t spoil your hols xxx
Mag123 Hope you had a lovely holiday. Where about in Somerset and Cornwall did you go? If you had the same weeks as me you probably had great weather too! I’m sure snuggles with your grand daughter was lovely too. Xxx
Tired Minion I was so pleased to read that you had a call from the hospital to say your mammogram was clear! I wish all hospitals could do this, rather than wasting their time and money sending out letters, which also means we are left waiting/worrying for longer! Hope you can relax now and truly start the healing process xxx
Northerner how are you doing Hun? Have you been travelling to your holiday home recently? If so has the weather been kind? Although getting away from home is nice, whatever the weather. Xxx
moomy my lovely. How are things with you. I was thinking about you and your children on Fathers Day. I’m sure it was another difficult 1st, for you all. However I know how supportive you are of each other and I’m sure Mr Moomy was looking down on you all and sending lots of Love your way! Big (((((HUGS)))) my friend xxx
Snowys Mum hope all is good with you and your little furry friends! Must admit I did giggle at your comments about your ex! Really pleased to hear that you have avoided being locked up! Let’s face it you are way too nice for that xxx
Violetsniff hope you and your sister have a wonderful time together! Can just picture you both camping in the garden….then seeing the rain and deciding not to bother A bit too ‘normal’ for a Fruit Loop though! I expected a bit more madness from you my lovely
xxx
Togger How are things with you? Do you have a plan in place yet, or are you still at the waiting game part? Just remember IF you need us we are here for you. Even if it’s to take your mind off of things for a while! You might even get to meet LP! Our group friend/mascot….he’s a very cute Guinea Pig! Sending ((((hugs)))) your way. Xxx
Well I think I have caught up with most of you and of course those I haven’t mentioned apologies, memory isn’t great and so I just commented on the last few things I recall reading. However as always I send lots of Love to Each and Every Fruit Loop. Wishing you all a lovely day, whatever you are up too. Sal xxxxx
Happy 18th birthday to your niece, Northerner and wow, how fantastic if she gets into Oxford! What subject will she be reading there? All my family went to Oxford (my parents met there), both my sisters, my aunt and uncle. Not me! I didn't find out I had been offered a place until I was late twenties. I had ME and had been ill from year 7 (third year back then) through to the end of year 9 and my parents thought it would be too much for me to go to uni as a result. I ended up doing my degree when my youngest was at primary school! I have often wondered what my life would have been like if I hadn't been so ill as a teenager.
Seaspirit44, I remember taking the children to Llandudno and a seagull stealing my eldest's ice cream. He was soooo upset as it had been the last of that type in the shop.
We were staying with friends in a little village not far from Dunster Castle in Somereset and then eith friends in Hayle in Cornwall. We were so lucky with the weather too. Rain was forecast for the weekend we were in Cornwall but there was just one thunderstorm and otherwise we had sun the whole holiday. I wish we coukd have gone for longer but my OH had to get back go work. He never takes his holiday entitlement. I can't decide how much of it is where he works and how much is down to his being a workaholic.
The friend in Somerset are in the process of trying to sell the house and downsize. It is going to feature on Escape to the Country shortly. We shall be sad as we have been staying there every Summer for 16 years!
We have an event going on today so the road into town is closed. There will be weird and wonderful go karts racing down the hill. I think we are going with my daughter and grandchildren to watch some of that.
There was a big music event on last night at the rugby club. We usually hear the music booming until midnight, but after complaints from the residents nearer to the fields, this year we heard not a peep! The only sound was happy ppl chatting on their way home afterwards!
I am rabitting on as I am wide awake while everyone else in the house is fast asleep.
In Somerset we went round Hestercombe Gardens and also Dunster Castle. We have visited both before but I just love them both. We also went to a really nice pub for a meal and walked the dogs. Then on the way down to our friends in Cornwall we stopped in Truro. We went into tbe Cathedral and the choir was practising. We sat and listened for an hour they were so incredible.
In Cornwall, we went to the mines at Geever and at Botallak. We also had a meal at a Meadery (who knew that is ehat a place serving mead is called?) and went to a pub where live music was being played. A guitarist who had toured with Pink Floyd was playing. Wow he was incredible!! The band members were friends of the friends we were staying with, both of whom also used to be in bands. They are very well known in the music world all over Cornwall.
I came back refreshed and full of memories of the wonderful friends we had stayed with, tge lovely dogs we had helped walk (along the beach in Cornwall!) and the fabulous places we had been to.

Hello Fruit Loops and Happy Sunday!
don’t know about all of you but today has already proved a great drying day so my third lot of washing is almost ready to be put out…..
LondonLass, creator-of-the-thread, good to see you post, my lovely, and so glad you had a good holiday in spite of having to brush sand off Bella! (Half a beach each time?!) and happy 18th to your niece!
Grogg I really hope your daughter is getting some help very soon, must be so hard to try to help yourself.
Northerner, gutting that you’re still plodding on in treatment but so glad you’ve the Pennines to cross for getting a lovely change.
seaspirit44, keep singing and enjoying Dorset!
,Violetsniff hope you’ve no trace of long Covid?
Snowys Mum, hope you’re not back working already? If so, hope work is kind!
Flossie25how’s OH? I guess he’s well acclimatised again by now?
Mag123, interesting about Oxford, my brother was our family’s brainy one and read Greats at Pembroke. Me? Just an OT, which in those days was a full-on diploma course. Oddly, I compared notes with a fellow OT yesterday who is quite a few years younger than me and she said how poor the training is now, compared even to her diploma days, let alone what it was for me!
Anna12345, hope you’re doing ok?
Lacomtekp, enjoy your holiday!
Thinking of all FL’s even if I haven’t tagged you
Hugs xxx

Thank you all for your kind wishes for my daughter . Still no change unfortunately. We hoping her appointment with consultant psychiatrist comes through quickly though I've offered to pay for private appointment. we've always paid for private counsellors as NHS offering is too general. She's struggles to find a counsellor that has the experience of severe OCD though.
Bern reading all posts to catch up but I'll fail if I try to name you all but loving pictures, glad those who had holidays had good breaks. Tired Minion, fabulous that your mammogram results good. Out of 6 years 4 were results on the day, literacy 30 minutes after mammogram. This is what everyone deserves as it's so stressful waiting for a letter or call, especially when they don't come. Congratulations to your niece LondonLass What is she going to study. My daughter went on visit to Oxford but said she couldn't go there as had to vacate her room every 8 weeks for 2 weeks and other students used it. Not sure if this was college specific. She did apply to do something with neuroscience there just to see if she got an offer but she didn't. She did neuroscience at Bristol instead. I had rule she had to be within 3 hour drive of home as her anxiety been there since teens and she looked at uni in Scotland which is a flight from S Wales !
So sorry I sent message of birthday felicitations to Northerner when should have sent to Londonlass. I had to keep logging back in. Having so much trouble with both getting on the site and falling out of the internet since we changed the internet provider a few weeks ago. Think I might just give up and leave the site.
Don’t leave Mag123 I fall out of net all the time in Cumbria it’s that rural it gets overloaded if three people arrive on site lol
If you report your site problems to Macmillan admin they might be able to help . Also we’ve all at some time or other sent messages to incorrect person but we all see replies anyway so no problem and we all know how busy this thread is it’s hard to keep up we gossip so much lol
