Hi Fruit Loops, someone on here posted a link the other day and I just wanted to remind you all.......
please join in tonight. Even if you aren't living near a hospital you might have a nurse, doctor, care worker or anyone connected to the NHS living nearby. Let's make a noise and show them how much we appreciate all that they are doing.
I personally will be applauding all the emergency services who are working hard to keep our country as safe as it can be!
Also the staff in nursing and care homes. Helen (Snowys Mum) that includes you!
Also to the supermarket staff who are still having to put themselves in danger to make sure we all have everything we need.
Let's be Thankful for EVERYONE who is stepping up to try and help our country.
THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart! Sal xxxxxxx
Sal LondonLass thanks so much for that, I keep crying thinking about all those being so unselfish, those running towards danger.
This is what is happening at my Nursing Home. We have 51 residents, all visitors have been stopped, no medical professionals, most of the residents are staying in their rooms with the girls seeing to them there.
We have no positive cases, but we have taken 2 from the hospital who have been on Corona wards, and we have no PPE!! just aprons and gloves and a few paper masks, we are awaiting delivery of proper PPE.
Lots of staff have self isolated some have had a letter and some have chosen to isolate and not be paid. The Manager is beside herself with worry putting the residents first all the time, she has been doing nursing shifts and also cooking in the kitchen. I have done extra shifts but she said I had done enough and she wants me to go home and rest and then be ready when she needs me.
There is a list on the wall of people who have volunteered to live at the home if we get it corona and have to be locked down. I am amazed at the bravery, because I think our poor residents would die.
For myself I go to work scared because there is about 70 + people there and you cannot be 2 meters away, but when I have been there a while I get braver being with people. Like one of the cleaners is 71 and she won't give up coming to work another Nurse is 63 and she says we all have to die sometime, and I think the manager isn't sleeping at all so I try to help her all I can....but must admit to having my head up my bum at times.
Sending love to you all xxx
Carolyn , pleased you are still getting on with life , and I agree with all you say
Kacang .....good to see you posting and pleased you are well
snoweys mum , you are wonderful , please don’t exhaust yourself , it is dreadful for nursing home residents who can’t have visitors. My dear friend spent the last 2 weeks asking why I had abandoned her , the care home stopped visitors last Thursday, her partner saw her that day and she said “ I do love you “ , she never said another word , but died this morning . We all knew she was terminally ill , but didn’t think she would have to spend her last 4 days alone. We are going to have a party for her when the crisis is over , she touched the lives of so many people .
hope you will all do the clapping Sal reminded us of , while you are out there ,look up and see Venus ( my daughter teaches astronomy ! )
keep safe and I hope we all sleep , ready for another day , nothing is ever bad enough to stop the sun rising ......x
I am so sorry about your friend, she would not have been alone the girls wouldn't have that. She knew she was loved to the moon and back. xxxx
Oh , so sorry about your friend, but she knew you loved her!
@Snowys Mum, you are a super-star, please make sure you rest enough!
hugs to you all xxx
Moomy
Very sorry about your dear friend , as someone said she knew that you loved her. Such a sad ending, have to hold on to the fact that for most of the time she was ill, you were able to support her. Sad times all round.
Yes we clapped tonight and our son joined us on FaceTime from Canada, clapping and whooping! His professor even agreed to put off a video meeting so that he could join in. She said anything to support the NHS (and others of course). Which brings me to Snowys Mum, thank you for all you do, putting yourself at risk and exhausting yourself for the sake of your patients. Fine work indeed.
Love to all the wonderful fruit loops, keep safe and as well as possible in these troubled times, HFxxxx
I clapped like mad at 8 tonight and felt very emotional as virtually all our street did the same!
Hugs xxx
Moomy
.. sorry about your dear friend ... lovely last words from her to her partner. Sad times. Good to have a celebration of her life planned in the future.
Snowys Mum ... the fallout from this virus is so far reaching. It’s bad enough in normal times when staff cannot get to work but this is so much worse. You’re all wearing yourself to a frazzle but the nature of carers is to care , and all the other staff... so much dedication. Going above and beyond.... but don’t get burnt out...easier said than done.
Our street was out clapping this evening. As an ex NHS worker it was great to see and hear. I feel for everyone affected by this pandemic, either directly or indirectly.
Hugs xx
