We've been playing host to flying ants all week

  • Oh no, poor you , I can’t stand them! They give me the itch!

I hope you eventually got to bed. Good Luck at the Vet today. Hope Pia behaves herself! I would of sent LP along, but as soon as I mentioned Vet he was gone! He’s on his way to.......

Aunty s house! I’ve told him to try and behave and that he’s not to nip the Onco or anyone else as they are just doing their jobs.......

Good Luck hope all goes well and fingers crossed those chemo tablets continue to work for a long time yet. Take care Hun. Sal xxx

  • , what a good idea, will try it. , my frozen towels do help, but not for long, regret to say xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • , please can I gave LP again for Sat? I'm going for my postponed dermatology  appt for skin biopsies. I think we'll avoid Media City this  time and just go to the nearby pub for lunch before hand xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hope all your appointments  go well. I think the UK heat is diminishing. We have a three day break with intermittent storms and temps have come back down to upper twenties . It was supposed to rain. I put all my pots out on the lawn to get the maximum but although the thunder was loud in the night.....the rain must have been  minimal......the pots are barely damp! So back to dirty water......Humping bowls and buckets of water to a dustbin collecting  point is a good work out but where is the gorgeous instructor to accompany the exercise? Don't  we deserve a few treats!

I am intrigued by all your tips to keep cool. Some sound quite drastic....I'm not sure about waking up with the frozen towel once it's  thawed? Do you put it in a plastic bag?

You know there is only one cure for the heat......you have to stop trying to beat it and allow yourself to acclimatise. You've been doing all the right things to keep the inside cool.....I have shutters which we close as soon as the sun has heat.....8 to 9.0a.m. at the moment. Yes, it's  annoying to have to have the lights on but it's  only for a short time. Keep the windows closed and I draw the curtains too. The iced bottled in front of a fan is an idea France tv are using too. But the most important is drinking water.......2 litres a day. That's drinking water.......not having water in a glass beside you like my mum who calls that drinking because she's  afraid she'll  need the loo. She won't.  In heat like this the water you drink is replacing the water lost through the skin. Obviously don't try and sit outside......the temps given are the shade temps so the shade is just as hot. If the heat continues, you will suddenly realise it's not bothering you so much. The problem will be if the temps jump up and down drastically.  We've had summers like that. They are very hard to acclimatise too otherwise I'm ok now. I have a hot weather routine.....early start, jobs out of the house finished before lunch, tv in afternoons,  jobs in evening as it cools a bit. I am lucky. I am retired. I appreciate there are more difficulties if you work but most buildings have air con these days don't  they? Perhaps not.....

Anyway, today we have cloud, the threat of another storm and time to breathe. I can take my mum and dad out in the fresh air not inside a shopping centre. Must go.....mum will be waiting for me. That doesn't happen very often. She does well for 92 but can forget what she was meant to be doing if I disappear too long.

Again I hope it's  a good day for all. Lots of good news when I tune in tonight.

    Love Karen

Well,I am back from the appointment, clinic ran an hour late,by which time I was a wreck , but had LP to help me .one enzyme is worse and one better ,so start chemo again Monday .She says she is not here in 3 weeks so to see a member of the team , she goes out , comes back and says that person will be on duty  Walked ( hobbled ) quarter of a mile to pharmacy who say “ oh yes , we have made your prescription, but we can’t find it ! “ 3 of them searching shelves . I offered to go back later .......

quarter of a mile back to clinic to talk to receptionist, who is lovely , but says there is no clinic that day !! Life seems so complicated......!?

If I can find some energy I will have a swim...that usually makes me feel more human

hope you are all coping with the weather ( I love heat ) and having a reasonable day ! Xx

  • Seems like good (ish) news   so pleased the treatment can continue. Enjoy your swim and how is your friend doing? She sounds an inspiration cutting the grass, wish I could get the energy up to cut mine xxx

I shall post a pic of the disabled guinea I'm currently a slave too. His back legs are rubbish...well one works a bit but he doesn't seem to let it bother him.

    He's called Roly
