Hiya Optimistic,
Best wishes for tomorrow. I keep a good check on the remaining boob, but I have to admit that it I do it apprehensively. I am always a bit scared of feeling around that one, just in case!
Before I had bc dx in 2016, I had noticed lots of changes in my breast in 2014 and it was dismissed by the breast clinic and there was nothing to report on the mammo. From now on, if I notice any changes, I am going to yell loud and clear!!!
Cwtches for tomorrow,
Gay xxx
Don't squeeze LP too hard, I need him for Friday xxx

Grrrrrrr! Site gremlins are out in force so I will just say hugs to all who need them.
LondonLass some of the 'put yourself first' and 'just say no' advice may seem alien... working with children is such an all encompassing job...mentally, physically, creatively and in the case of nannying especially, emotionally.
It is hard to extrapolate yourself and simply apply common sense and employment rules and rights. The very nature of having and being a nanny should be all about the relationship with the children and family, whereas in other settings, arms length professionalism would be the aim.
Having said this, of course the family are looking at their changing needs and I assume cost and convenience are considerations. It may be that they are aware of your health issues and rather than make assumptions have opened the conversation ...to allow you to say what you feel is do-able.
It is a rubbish situation to be in...you give so much and are having to run very fast just to stand still and are now being asked if you could do a sprint and marathon please.
Being a nanny is what you are not just what you do so any thoughts of not being up to continuing must be shattering and of course you don't want to raise concerns with the family about your current role.
You say you will need to work for financial reasons (and because you have skills and talent that need to be used) ... I am unsure of your qualifications and experience but would working with children in a different setting or role be anymore manageable?
I do appreciate that marketing yourself and being upfront about your health may seem a nonstarter.
OK last thoughts...would 'living in' for a couple of days help you in that it would avoid travel or would you feel that you wouldn't really be off duty or able to escape for some much needed rest n recuperation?
Take care
Morning all, thanks again for the advice and thoughts on my working extra issue! , you are spot on, in how I feel and what it's like being a nanny! It's like no other job. Which is why it's a job I have always loved doing and I promised myself on the day that I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer that I wouldn't let the Cancer stop me from being a Nanny! The thought of breaking that promise is what upsets me!
sorry! Now on to the important stuff.
Optimistic, I just want to wish you all the best for today's Mammogram. Just take slow deep breaths and it'll be over before you know it. If you are feeling scared at any point, put your hand in your pocket or handbag and find...........
LP who is on his way as I write this! I must pre warn you, he's now discovered the words to some Christmas carols/songs! So don't be surprised if you hear some loud singing coming from your bag! Just tell him too keep it down a bit! For a little Guinea Pig he makes a lot of noise!
Current favourites are 'Jingle Bells, Batman Smells' and 'We three Kings of Orient are, One in a Taxi One in a Car' I'm sure you know the versions I mean!,!! SORRY!
Hopefully if nothing else it'll help relax you and make you smile! Take Care Hun and Good Luck!
wombat.23, LP will be enroute to you on Friday morning! So don't worry! You know it could of been worse last time! It could of been one of your ex students!!!!!!
Right, time to think about starting the day. But before I do just want to Wish EVERYONE a Good Day! Good Luck to those with appointments or treatments of any sort. Oh and of course sending Love and (((((((((((HUGS))))))))) to anyone who needs them!
Fingers crossed you are all avoiding Hotel BHS! Take Care! Sal xxxxxxx
