Hi so pleased you have some positive news xxx
GBear glad you have some answers and can begin to sort through it all now. We found out two years ago my 15 year old was born with some gynae problems in development plus only one kidney has developed from this but at least we've found this early for her. Sending you big hugs xxx
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Tried stopping one dose of Omeprozole today as I haven't had Heartburn for months!
BIG MISTAKE!
Who knew missing just one tablet could cause this! It's so depressing! Is my life really going to be full of tablets, tablets and more tablets!!
Hope EVERYONE else is fast asleep! Xxxxxx
I know the feeling if i miss my ranitidine tablet as i have that instead of omeprozole as it works better for me, the heartburn is awful. Apparently it’s something that we have to continue to take because we are waking rattly jars full of medication for this, that or the other. Even with my ranitidine i can suffer tge burning pain but at keast its more manageable.
I hope the heartburn settles down for you LondonLass so at least get some relief and even if you don’t sleep it’s amazing how simply resting helps.
Thought I would give you a laugh, it certainly did it fir me the first time i saw it

Helllllllloooooo GBear and LondonLass,
Owwww I too suffered heartburn and acid reflux so bad for many years, Zantac was my best friend that was until I found the Strawberry flavour Gaviscon.
Do you have the heartburn as a side effect of the BC treatment, the reason I ask, if its not BC related, my story 'might' help.....
I was suffering ‘acid reflux/heartburn’ on a permanent basis - taking over the counter Gaviscon tablets to calm it .....
Fast forward 7 years, I got bacterial infection/pneumonia (from a bread crumb going down ‘the wrong way’ ). I was put on a antibiotic ‘for this’ - the antibiotic was called “Clindamycin”.
The antibiotic worked on the bacterial infection/pneumonia in my lung or wherever it was around there - however a side effect from the antibiotic.... amazingly, it completely ‘stopped’ my acid reflux/heartburn!!!! It was amazing, about 3 days into the antibiotic treatment the heart burn/acid reflux 'just stopped'.
A few weeks later I went back to my doctor, I total him what had happened (I'd never been to the doctors about my heartburn/acid reflux, so he knew nothing of it) so, I told my doctor how whilst taking the antibiotic that my heartburn/acid reflux had gone/stopped - to which he told me the heartburn/acid reflux was possibly caused by a bacteria in my stomach called “helicobacter pylori” - this can live in the stomach and cause acid reflux/heartburn in some people and nothing in others!!
I’d suffered terrible over the years, I could only sleep/lie on my left side, if I turned over to lie on my right side, it would trigger it straight away, toast would cause it, well everything seemed to cause it - well since that course of that particular antibiotic I am still heartburn/acid reflux free.
Anyway.... sorry for the long post, I felt the need to share this 'in case' it could help. Over the years I've had other types of antibiotics these never touched the heartburn/acid reflux. It was “Clindamycin” that stopped it.
GBear and LondonLass, I'm hoping you have fallen asleep or at least you will have by the time you get to the end of this post.
Sending loads of love and great big hugs xxxxxxx
Well it's sent me to sleep, quick cup of tea and I'll be snoring away hahahahah
They reckon mine has been brought on by medication which i have been on for years, and of course the cancer and surgery caused more problems with added medication, but its very interesting what you have actually said because the bacteria in the gut does many a thing, we have good and bad bacteria living in our guts and at times we can cause inflammation. I have slightly reduced liver function which can give me some heartburn but now I wonder, it was said that my kidneys could be the cause of my liver pain I didn’t really understand it but they are connected to each other because of the vital role they play in filtering out any toxins in the system, i do wonder, humm another question to add tomy list for the Doctor.

Gbear....please do you have some answers , wish they were both “ good “
i sometimes think that when they start looking ,they find something . Half the population must be walking around with something undiagnosed ...!?

Morning Ladies, thanks WhatHappened, my heartburn is caused by a small hiatus hernia, which interestingly was suddenly picked up on one of my CT scans! After months of blaming medications and chemo, there was an actual reason for it! But thanks fof the suggestion, in fact I was checked for that bacteria years back when I first complained of heartburn!
GBear, I feared it might be the case that I will just need to continue with the food I am on. But I used to also take the liquid gaviscon like stuff at night and as I haven't needed that for a while I thought maybe I could try with less Omeprozole. GP agreed it would be good to lesson the dose! But guess who will be taking the two tablets again today!! 4am I finally fell asleep!! Thank goodness I'm not working today! Although I have to get across to GP surgery for a blood test, then I am meeting the lovely Prickles for a catch up and cake, of course, before she goes on holiday! Lucky her!!
, Good Morning! Hope you are doing as well as you can be as you count down those chemo sessions! Keep Going Buddy, you can do it!
, I was VERY pleased to hear your latest Tumor markers result, that's amazing! , fingers crossed the Chemo continues to do 'it's thing'! You are doing Great Hun xxxx
Sending Lots of Love to EVERYONE else! Hope you all have a good day! ((((((((((((((((((GROUP HUG))))))))))))))))))) xxxxxxxxxxxx
GBear - great news that the tumours are benign, not so great about the general state of your renal system, but at least they know now, and hopefully they'll be able to improve things for you as much as possible!
LondonLass and others - heartburn - bleurgh! I feel your pain, literally and otherwise! It is SOOOO painful! I take Lanzoprazole twice a day and often have to top up with Gaviscon advance (aniseed flavoured snot...) for breakthrough reflux. I asked the GP if there was anything else I can take and she said that I can add Ranitidine into the mix as well. However, I've not gone that far yet - it will only be for emergencies! Mine started after radiotherapy and has persisted ever since if I try to reduce them. It's been worse since the last chemo started as well - joy!
Hope you don't feel too bad today!
Hugs to everyone!
Good morning everyone, I am slowly rising from the pit that has been my home for the past two weeks!!
I discovered the joy of aniseed flavoured snot while in hospital, I was hoping for a couple of minty Gaviscon tablets but all they had was the gloop...disgusting stuff!!
Going for my review tomorrow so will find out whether I am fit for next chemo... can't wait
Love to everyone x
