  • Thank you for that helpful advice,  , bless you advice from someone who has been there is really helpful. I suspect the surgeon might even be thinking about a compression dressing because of my previous problem with bleeding when even the implant had to be removed in a second surgery. The nurse fitting the bra today hinted at that. At least I’m prepared!

  • I was lucky   no complications after op . Also I was in hospital for five nights .

We have three main hospitals in this area so I had diagnosis and treatments in one but elected to have surgery in an ex general hospital that is now used as area of excellence  and they didn’t need beds .

Benefit was drains removed before discharge which I was so pleased about ..I have very quick healing skin and body wanted drain out .
Seen surgeon this week hopefully for last time 5 yr mammogram due shortly if clear I’ll be signed off .

One step at a time and ...Breathe !

  • Brilliant! So happy for you  ! I gather I will be a day case, most likely early on list and home afternoon/evening. I suspect with Covid around they like to keep some wards totally infection-risk free and minimum length of stay.

  • Hi moomy, oh my goodness you are going through it again my lovely arnt you? But great they have a plan and lots of advice from those with experience here. I’ll bet it feels like an age to the 7th doesn’t it? You know the drill, keep occupied to try and keep your mind off it.

my update is surgery done and mostly healing well but blood supply lost to one areola and nipple. So they are undecided what the course of action will be for that currently wait and watch. I will either need some surgery to rebuild it in the future or do nothing depends on how I feel I guess. Still waiting for histology to come back on tissue removed during surgery as I do have HER2 and it’s usually 3-4 weeks before the lab gets that back. I’m feel like I’m being ungrateful for moaning about the loss of my nipple as the goal is to get rid of the cancer and I’m trying to focus on that. But still feel weird about how I’m going to look and no idea of what I’m going to be left with.

  • Hi  , it’s absolutely fine to mourn the loss of anything, even a nipple! You’re young and so it hurts more.

Yes I’m trying to keep busy, having daughter around for a couple of days before she goes on tour helps. But I’ve pulled out of stuff which might need me mixing, I can join choir via zoom next Thursday, which is great and I do enjoy it though it’s not the same as being there of course.

The garden will need attention, I will be potting on tomatoes and planting runner bean seeds, also ensuring the lawn is mown right up to the day before going in. The kids are great but I don’t want to put too much into their shoulders!

How are your peonies after last night   ? Hope all is well….

    Thinking of all Fruit Loops….

  • Morning  I wrapped them in polystyrene sheeting. Did I read the scans show nothing sinister and everything is go for your op? Are you okay?

sorry to hear you're feeling weird about the surgery results. Time will heal more hopefully to the point where you can feel acceptance and sort of "make friends" with the new look. It's hard to feel grateful. After my surgery (was only lumpectomy) and rads mine looked rather mangled and one side is smaller. But it's fine now you can hardly tell and I decided in my head not to be bothered.

Ted has been out on the grass in his run, but to be honest he prefers sitting in a blanket on my knee warm and cosy.

  • I had rabbits in mine that looked like this. I had my cat on a harness until recently. Maybe it's for a house cat to go outside. We have a big back garden. I worried and kept calling him in when he he first went out in his own.  Scary. Xx

  • Thank you, danced outside yesterday. Had to rest in the middle of our grapevine dance.

  • hi mommy, I’m not a very experienced gardener but I do love growing veg, I’ll be planting tomatoes and some other veg again this year. You’ve given me an idea now I’ll check the dates to see if I‘m too late to plant some seeds this year. That’s something I could easily do whilst recovering. Thanks for the prompt.
