.
Just been to the surgery. Saw the nurse. After the call this morning from the receptionist saying the nurse wanted to see me to discuss my high cholesterol and statins I was in a real state.
Turns out, my chomesterol was only just above normal, there are a lot of healthy fats in my blood and she just wanted to give me some diet sheets to help.
She said statins were certainly not for discussion at the level it is at and in fact it has come down from last year. Tbey weren't concerned last year as it was only just over then, but slightly higher than it is now!
Firstly, why do receptionists scare us? Secondly, lovely as she was, did the nurse really need to see me? She texted me the diet links while I was there.
When you tbink how hard it has been this week for some people to get appointments!!
I am truly grateful to them for the care I am receiving but todatmy has been a wipe out!
Glad your results ok. Blooming receptionists. I've been batting diabetes since 2015, initially I managed to reverse through diet bit my body has adjusted to lower carbs so more of a struggle now. It's quite common as time goes on for it to get harder to keep sugar down. I started with hb1ac 117, hot down to 42 for about 3 years but crept up to 49 now. My cholesterol is ok. I don't avoid fats as fats can help body deal with carbs. Good fats though like olive oil. I just have splash of skimmed milk in tea as I hate taste of milk but I put cream on any naught puddings to help manage sugar. I'm sure diabetic nurses get extra money for F2F as mine been insisting on throughout lockdown. Booked in 6 months in advance.
Talking of appointments my daughter had phone call from nurse today. Once again she missed call so went back on open request on mygp to say she'd asked for message reply due to work and as said just needed the blooming cream GP said last week to request if more needed. She got cream! These phone appointments are great for GP who can ring when it suits but disaster for patients who have no idea when to expect call. They can ring between 8.30.- 5pm.
So glad to hear your daughter has got the cream at last!
Have you tried Alpro no sugar oat milk? I love it. I have it in my decaf coffee and in my porridge.
I was at 56 and got it down to 39. Seems to be ok at the moment.
I hope people are able to sleep tonight. Not sure I will be.
39 is great ! Well done . I'm not a fan of plant milk or cow milk . My daughter been vegan for years so I've tried the lot soya, pea, oat, almond . I find the unsweetened versions if available still taste sweet. I've ditched breakfast cereal years ago due to carbs abs sugar as I only like crunchy nut !
Hope you get done sleep tonight . I find my local council meetings on YouTube so boring , unless planning , send me off !
Hi Grogg, so glad your lass has her prescription at long last! Phew! And yes, GPS phoning don’t give any specific time frame so it’s not easy for busy folk to guarantee to be able to take the call.
hubs was diabetic and managed it with diet for quite a while but in the end went to meds then eventually to insulin.
Hugs xxx
Moomy
moomyyes I remember your hubby's BG issues when he was ill. It's interesting there is not just two types of diabetes. While 1 is autoimmune, can start at any age, not just childhood. LADA - late on set audits is type 1.5. Then type 2 can also be different issues causing it. His is why some can tolerate bananas, porridge with barely a spike and others can't. I can eat jacket potato with butter and skin but chips a big no.!
Just watched Dragons den and ordered theGet Fussy deodorant. Its refillable, vegan etc. on offer £13 for holder and refill plus I got a discount code DRAGONS. Bought one for my daughter for a little filler for her birthday next week and one for my hubby who has had a persistent allergic reaction rash in his torso for 4 years. I'll let you know if any good.
Mag123 what's on the play list. My daughter hubby made her a Spotify playlist for their second date! She knew he was a keeper then
