Grogg so sorry you have been having a tough time getting hold of a GP for your daughter. They do seem to have disappeared into the ether someehat. Pre covid we would have 4 or 5 gps in surgery at any one time. Now there is only ever 1 and you have to start calling at 8 for an appointment and they have usually all gone by the time you get through.Having said that, the GP I alwsys try to see has been brilliant. She even rang me late in the evening the night before I got my biopsy results to wish me luck. I saw her in surgery on Monday. I saw a 4th year student first, then the GP as well. They couldn't have been more caring and my 10 minute appointment turned into an hour. Fortunately, I was her last appointment of the morning! I am being referred for a scan on a lump on my leg.
I hope you get some positive response. If not, as suggested by othets, do ask for tge practice manager. your daughter can't go without her meds.
I did have an issue last year when my BP medication got out of sync with the others as I didn't receive the full amount one month. I ran out.It had taken me 3 days to get through to the GP surgery who told me to speak to Boots as the dispenser because they had given the prescription to Boots. I couldn't get hold of the pharmacist and went back to the GP surgery. The receptionist told me it wasn't her problem and when I asked if it was dangerous to just stop the medicine she said 'how should I know? I'm not a doctor'.
Oh my god that really riled me. Rude cow. Some of the receptionist at my practice are lovely, really helpful and somehow get you a call with someone at least, some are awful. You explain your situation and exactly why you’re calling to just cut through the crap so they’ll know you really need the appointment and there’s still no give. It makes me cross! X
I must admit I was a bit taken aback by her attitude. I haven't come across her again so I might not have been the only person she was rude to. All the others have been lovely.
I have been into town to the shops today. I carried far too many bags of shopping back up the hill and had to rest this afternoon. But it was lovely wandering in and out of the charity shops looking at toys and books for my grandchildren. I just shouldn't have bought so many! They were cheap but surprisingly heavy!
Hi Grogg, really sorry to hear about your fights to get a GP appointment! It’s just not right!
Does your surgery have a nurse who can prescribe? Sometimes it’s easier to get an appointment with a nurse!
Its wrong on so many levels and sadly I think it’s very much a postcode lottery at the moment!
I had my blood test last week to check my thyroid. My TSH levels have dropped completely so it looks as if I am overactive again! After being stable for so long it’s a bit frustrating but that’s life! However what gets me is my results have been put through on the computer, however no one has contacted me to discuss the ‘abnormal’ results! So I will need to TRY and get an appointment to discuss, which will mean continuing to be overactive for at least another 3wks before anything is done?! At which point someone will say you should of come sooner
I don’t know if things will ever get back to any sort of normality with the health service. But I just hope those who really need the help, are getting it!!
Sending Lots of Love to you and your Daughter Grogg. Hope you can get her sorted soon! Xxx
