It seems like only yesterday that I started this Thread! As I lay awake for hours on end, feeling sad and lonely. I decided to reach out and see if anyone else was around. Well one night led to another and gradually others found the thread and joined in and before we knew it, there was a whole group of us that couldn’t sleep or were bored/fed up/ scared, throughout the day and night who just needed somewhere to vent their frustrations! But also as the weeks went on a place where they could have a laugh with others, a place where it was okay to laugh about Cancer and all the treatment/side effects that went along with it!
Cancer on the AWAKE thread was different to other threads, you were allowed to have a joke about things, even the most serious things including Death! Nothing was taboo and that’s what made the thread so easy to be part of.
Before we knew it the Fruit Loops were formed and LP was born! Where else would you find the love and support from a little Guinea Pig wearing Green underpants! I’ve lost count of the number of people that LP has helped and supported through the years. As we’ve always said, he can’t change your results, but he can give you something else to think about while waiting for the results! I for one have had great pleasure in listening to the stories of LP’s Adventures! Think there could be a possible book to be written there!
So as we head towards the next milestone, I thought I would do something different. Instead of a countdown, I wanted to say what the AWAKE thread is to me and what I feel it has brought throughout the years!
So here goes…..
The first thing has to be….
This thread has supported so many people. Whether you are here for 2wks or 2yrs, the Support is here for EVERYONE!
I for one have made many, many friends throughout the years. Some are no longer with us, but they will be forever in my heart. The ones that are still here are my forever friends, after all these are the people who helped me and continue to help me through my toughest times!
I have received and given more advice on this thread then anywhere else, it’s a true fountain of knowledge. Thanks to all you amazing Fruit Loops!
EVERYONE cares for every single person that posts on this thread, New, Old or returning members. We ALL care for each other!
AND
Who could understand more, than those who have been through it or are going through it! Everything we go through is a learning curve that we then pass on to those that follow behind us.
And of Course……
We have shared so many Laughs over the years! Funny posts, stories, pictures and even meet ups that inevitably turned into hysterical Laughter!
So that’s what this thread means to ME! Feel free to add anything I’ve missed or perhaps a few words about what this thread means to YOU!
So time to say….
CONGRATULATIONS FRUIT LOOPS!
Can’t believe that we have come this far! Do you think we deserve a party when we reach 40,000 posts?! Do you think we can keep going that long? Will the site be able to cope?
Who knows!
