  • I hope you’ve both rested even if you didn’t get more sleep, @lacomtekp and @silverberg (not sure why tags aren’t working)

I got out for a walk too and remembered to take a bag for the blackberries which are plump and (although sharp) ripe and ready to pick or drop!

however I did get caught in an early shower and got home rather damp!

  • I'm envious of the blackberries. I love stewed blackberry and apple with creamy custard but here any that survive are very wizened and  woody. Too dry I guess.....

  • My blackberries in my garden (clumping, thornless) are pretty dried up too, @lacomtekp, so I was pleased to find some juicy ones

  • Hello all. So the sleep or lack of is becoming an issue again. Don't think I've had more than 3 or 4 hrs in a long time. Went to the doc today and been prescribed Amitriptyline. Yet to get said drugs but just wondered if anyone out there has any experience of this drug? Apart from the joint pain, fatigue, weight gain, headaches, hot flushes and general overheating that comes with tamoxifen (yes i seem to get them all but appreciate some people may not!) I'm on my last and final year so counting down the days. Hugs to all x

  • Hi  , I’ve had metropolis in the past and it’s really helpful but can become habit-forming. I used it after hubs died for a short while just to knock me out when my mind was far too busy. And yes, for a short while it really did help. You do need to take care the next morning as you can get a bit of a zombie hang-over!

Night night Fruit Loops, hope you sleep well and stay safe, plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish

  • Hi  or should your name now be, VERY Tired Minion!?

I just wanted to say I am VERY impressed that you have lasted so long on Tamoxifen, as in my experience that drug was the work of the Devil and for me of course it didn’t even work!!! Well not completely. However I do realise that for most people it works well with not too many side effects!

Sadly some of us aren’t quite so lucky! Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time!
I just wanted to say I was on Amitriptyline for many years, while on Tamoxifen. It was prescribed to me, to help with really bad hot flushes which I was struggling with at the time. Initially the drug worked well but eventually it stopped working and I was advised to try a different drug, although due to lack of communication between hospital and GP surgery. They couldn’t decide which drug was going to really help, so I was left not taking Amitriptyline but not starting a new drug!! NOT a good idea to stop over night practically and believe me I suffered, I had really bad withdrawal symptoms, as of course you should stop them slowly!!
What I will say is that I didn’t realise how the drug, which is/can be used as an antidepressant affected my mood. I had spent years feeling ‘okay’ about everything, never overly Happy or Sad, just okay! Once I came off the drug I recall spending time celebrating my Birthday and for the first time in years/since taking the drug, I felt truly Happy and had the best Birthday ever!
I would never take an antidepressant again after that. I prefer to feel the ups and down of life rather than just feel ‘okay’ about EVERYTHING! No ups or downs! So just be careful Hun!

I know the dose is different depending on what you are taking it for, but using it for the shortest time possible would be my advice! If I had my time over again I would never of started it, although the hot flushes were driving me mad at the time, so perhaps I would have taken it!!
Whatever you decide I hope it helps you. Probably a bit late to offer advice now, but have you tried different brands of Tamoxifen? As I found some brands had worse side effects for me than others?! Just thought I’d mention it!

Sending a (((((((BIG HUG)))))) Sal xxxx
