.
Good morning....
The storms got here too. We were fortunate. Some places had golf ball sized hail and there is flooding. It's just drizzling today and much cooler.....probably still 20 something but it feels cold.
The cooler weather gave us time to consider plans for the winter. I thought OH had decided against long drives....but no, he's decided he wants to return to Portugal. So we browsed and were horrified to discover many places are already booked. Ok, if we wanted an apartment on the coast but for 8- 10 weeks we wanted space but not at the £20,000 cost some are expecting. Last year's bungalow was booked but luckily I have found a house with a garden and gorgeous views just out of the town of Sao Bras d' Alportel. OH said book it so I did. That's Christmas sorted and our teacher son will fly into Faro to join us plus another son will also be in Portugal and will drop in and out. I am so excited. Just the more mundane things like a mammogram and echographie and the neurologist for the neuropathy to deal with in between. ( Plus stock piling prescriptions which have to paid for in Portugal so only for emergencies!)
Hope the chemo has gone well....I noticed at least two people were off today for a first/ or another round. Plus those of you with ongoing difficulties from your secondary treatments and those who are just starting on the appointment treadmill either returning or beginning.
Thinking of you all......
Sounds lovely, Lacomtekp , just what’s needed, a winter break! Long drive, yes, but I guess you take turns?
Yes, thinking of all who are facing treatments, tests and concerns. I’ve got an oncology appointment this month sometime too, all seems to be going ok apart from the now definite neuropathy in feet and ankles. Not severe but both drugs I’m on contribute to it. So, annoying, really. Then it’s blood tests and collection next month of the next 3 boxes of Abemaciclib I guess.

I feel for you Moomy, I was thinking that the appointments would reduce once the active treatment finished, surprised how wrong I was.
This month alone I have 5 appointments, follow up MRI, lymphodema clinic plus ECG, Oncologist tomorrow, blood test Thursday and collecting Letrozole and Ribociclib on Monday.
Just for fun they have added a cardiologist appointment on the 1st as I have got some heart changes since the treatment. Oh well at least they are keeping a close eye on me!
It’s a regular pain, isn’t it, Harvestmoon ? but I guess the alternative isn’t up to much?!?

So true, the expression dammed if you do, dammed if you don't springs to mind. Much prefer the do option.
Now thinking better the devil you know could also apply, at least we have a modicum of control this way!
Sleep well everyone, hugs to all
Lacomtekp good to have plans in place.
Hope appointments all go well Harvestmoon moomy Yes, still have a couple of appointments a year, the rest are in different department.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
“ The only constant thing in life is change “
Afternoon all,a hot humid and thundery day again.
I have been reassured, yet again, by my lovely oncologist. Cardiology appointment is very much precautionary as changes are minor and in fact my last ECG was normal so what was seen before seems to have rectified itself.
If my bloods are good I will get 2 months of Ribociclib rather than 1 so that removes next month's visits for bloods, ECG and collection of meds.
Happy Bunny here, hugs to all xxx
Harvestmoon , I did wonder if the treatment with Ribociclib would be similar to Abemaciclib in that if all seems well, you’d get given more than one box supply. I now get 3xboxes of 28 tablets (so not 3 months, as I’ve tried in the past to explain to GP surgery receptionists!) at a time, and have done so since March this year. I was a bit concerned as I’d already booked a few holidays (what’s the point of being retired if you can’t just ‘up sticks’ at times you wish?) and had only been allowed a box at a time, having just started last October. I guess it was really observations to see how you’re coping, and to see the effect it was having on your system.

I was originally going to have Abemaciclib but my oncologist changed me at the last minute as they got funding for the Ribociclib. I take 2 tablets daily for 21 days and then have a 7 day break. Just starting my first 7 day break. Doesn't sound like I can get it from the GP so it's currently a trip to the hospital to restock!
