  • Well done for remembering so many, I get so behind trying to keep up with everyone! I may not be posting that much, but I am on here pretty much everyday. I still can't figure out how to post pictures after the update and wondering how everyone else can when I can't!!!

Yes, enjoying the summer hols. Today I made it to the gym for the first time this year after my op in Feb. My back is aching more than ever (it first started straight after my dx), I had a bone scan to rule anything out a year ago but then a dexa scan picked up osteopenia in my spine - so I am wondering if that is the reason why it is aching so much. It is not majorly painful but is quite constant. Anyway gp said get doing more exercising so hitting the gym!

    Cwtches to all,

To Train as a Macmillan Volunteer...…. yes I passed the interview! Next step one and a half days training course, probably in Sept.

She asked LOTS of questions, explained the role (going to a persons home to help, just listen, talk, shopping whatever is needed but no cleaning/lifting/medical care). How would I feel being faced with cancer again, would I talk about it if asked, would it bring back memories (I said they're brought back everyday with tv adverts and my hair when I look in mirror), how would I cope emotionally if they were emotional. Lots of stuff like that. I was totally honest, told her about my Oct meltdown, felt I was ready but was a little scared. Mainly because I don't want to start then let anyone down by not being physically capable.

Anyway, amazingly she then said she was offering me a training place, so they can see if they like me and also if I change my mind and feel I'm not ready now I can do so then come back in a few months with no problem. I was well chuffed!  It's only 1-2 hours per week so that's good and they go with you to introduce you to the person you'll be visiting and it's just the one person so no rushing round to lots of people... really looking forward to it.

    xx

  • Just for you .....

Sorry, I couldn't resist! Joking aside Well Done you! Xx

, that's fantastic news. Fingers crossed it all works out! Just remember it's okay to admit you aren't quite ready! So don't feel that once you have done your training you have to do it, because you don't and you don't need to be putting pressure on yourself. Giving something back is a lovely thing to do, bug it's also quite tough! Well done you on giving it a go! I really hope it works out xx

Congratulations!! I think that the person who gets you as a visitor is very lucky indeed.

  • Thanks for thinking of me, lovely lady.  Im waiting for my mx after it being postponed twice.  HOPEFULLY it will happen in just over a week. Each time its delayed, I keep having to go back to work, which is exhausting.  But otherwise all good, thanks

Hope you got some sleep last night and that the hospice nurse meeting was of some help to you, And good luck next week on your scan.  Will be thinking of you

Great photos from your break, so good to get out and see thinks (though you often need a good long rest after these types of holidays Grinning

Love and hugs to everyone else on here
