Snowys Mum ….so sorry about your experience with your boyfriend’s thoughtless care.
If anything can go wrong,we used to say,”it always happens to nurses”!xxx
I hope he is getting stronger and you are finding the strength to “do it all”…xxx
Mag123 I am shocked to say the least..and speechless at how unprofessionally this whole thing has been handled. God forbid you now get a serious infection.the doctor needs striking off..how dare they treat a patient in such a cavalier way...bad enough any patient, but this patient has gone through the stress and upset of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment...totally unacceptable.
Not all people feel strong enough to stand their ground and fight their case. Imagine another poor soul who had the same experience as you, but felt too in awe of a medial 'professional' to question what they had done? That same person would never have questioned the treatment, wouldn't have returned to the surgery, wouldn't have contacted the surgery, and would have just collected the prescription without question.
Mag123 you need to take this further..not only for your satisfaction that something is done, but so that no one else will ever have a similar thing happen to them
That's my rant over, but goodness me I get so mad about things like this!
Sally
I hope that you’ve strength and time enough to take this further, Mag123 , not pleasant I know but if not for you yourself, it will surely buck this persons ideas up and cause a bit of retraining?
Night night Fruit Loops, sleep well and stay safe, plenty of sterile (!) sleepy fairy dust for all who wish

Dear Mag123 as an ex Nurse the nux of this is about aseptic technique. The swab is sterile until dropped as you know. In a room that has had people in and out all day with a variety of bugs who knows whose germs they might cultivate in the Petrie dish. That's without them introducing germs into your wound.
The have procedures to follow. The person would have been assessed for aseptic technique during training. Professional codes of conduct are there for a reason, to protect the public. I put in an official complaint about my son's surgery because of a prescription error.
Meanwhile you need to have a relationship with your GP for ongoing care. It shouldn't stop this. They shouldn't gang up against you.
Take care of yourself. Staying upset won't help you. When I get upset I try and use the anger or emotion to work out what to do. My son has many medical problems, Epilepsy being the most problematic one. I had to ask for a second opinion to get any kind of service. Xx
Thought I would post some nice photos
. A swan selfie!
