I’ve read a few pages of this lovely support thread and would like to join it, hope that is ok.

I’m a referred 3 months ago, diagnosed 2 months ago, surgery 1 month ago, having bones checked out soon-ish new member of the BC clubSmirk and could do with some friends for chit chat.

Have had a quiet day today, pottered in the garden with my glamorous assistant the grey cat, and saw a woodpecker. It’s been a nice day and I haven’t cried so that’s good.

     Hugs xx

  •   I’m sorry you find yourself here, but I’d like to say you’ll get 100% support from this group. Whether it’s directly BC related or just other stuff I’ve been amazed as as to how others have leapt to help.

Don’t be afraid to just to say it as it i. Wishing you the best for your treatment and recovery. xx

  • I can’t edit my typos, sorry!

I have finished my treatment, and now enjoying the outdoors, walking and running.  My motto is keep jumping forward Grinning

  • Hi   and welcome to a site nobody wants to know about. This AWAKE thread has been a brilliant lifeline for many. Started by the lovely  some years back when she had awful trouble sleeping, she’s seen many come and go. Hopefully that will include you, when you’ve got through all your treatment. (I’ve tagged her so she can see!)

please do feel free to post, here or begin your own thread and keep it going (that’s what I’ve done, it’s not much about the bc now, as since the bc I’ve been through a bereavement and also have a son with a blood cancer that’s hopefully managed as a chronic illness)

    Hugs xxx

  • Welcome and baby steps.     when I was recovering from surgery and then radiotherapy I used to try to go out every other day.  Nowhere fancy, sometimes just a drive in car.  I'm in S Wales so  we revisited Barry, as a child we used to go to Barry Butlins for the day - it's now gone but seafront lovely, Brecon , Llanelli - in fact went to St Elli bay today as we like it's quieter than Mumbles on a bank holiday.  We did a different walk today and discovered a beer garden overlooking the lake.  It was a chain pub but garden lovely.  Children play area fenced off to one side away from us so nice and quiet and relaxing.  I was stressing over a very new baby though.  They floppy were in romper with hands and feet enclosed and no hat.  It was boiling there !  She had another child so who am I to speak out that they might need a hat and mits off.

  • Hi  ,

Welcome to the mad house! I’m sure after reading a few pages you will of seen Fruit Loops mentioned! Well that’s what we call everyone who joins this thread! Why? I hear you ask! Well because it seemed very fitting for a group of people who were all dealing with a cancer diagnosis but still found time to laugh and enjoy life, even on the darkest of days!
Oh and I suppose there is the small matter of LP a Guinea Pig who’s called Lucky Pants, who travels to EVERYONES appointments and gets up to mischief! But stops everyone worrying as he gives them something else to focus on!

    Cute isn’t he!

Okay, so now I’m sure you’ll understand why we are collectively known as the Fruit Loops! Hopefully you will stick around and enjoy being part of a very Special group of friends! Friends who will support you in your darkest moments and help you to smile and laugh through any difficult times, while also offering advice if and when needed!
Just remember Laughter is and always will be the best medicine! I mean, I’m still wide awake at stupid o’clock…. Why wouldn’t that be funny!!!!!

Anyway, again Welcome to the group! Wink Always good to meet a new friend. Love to you and All the Fruit Loops. Sal xxxx

  • Good morning.....

It's quite early but as you can see....another glorious day forecast. We've missed the storms so far so a water ban starts today.....no hosepipes, no swimming pool refills, no watering sports facilities......so I am off out with my watering can now while it's not too hot then back to the packing. Holidays are lovely but why has the packing got so much harder with age?

Pills, potions and extra underwear a priority ! Plus plenty of tea bags....even alcohol seems less appealing post BC. What an old misery I'm becoming? Thank you   for the laughs. Welcome to the madhouse   ( but don't worry . We can be very wise if you need to ask anything. We have a lot of shared experiences.)

Take care and have a good day all. My winter rain water awaits distribution!
