Am starting Tamoxifen next week, can you take anything to minimise side effects, such as a good multivitamin? Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

    Good morning Spudzmum.

I too will be starting Tamoxifen soon. I already take turmeric/piperine, coconut oil tabs but probably most crucial I take apple cider vinegar in water every day which is great for loads of things but is also supposed to be great for menopause effects so it should work with this. A good multi vitamin is a good idea and make sure you're keeping your calcium and vitamin D levels up with good nutrition. xx

Hi! I've been taking tamoxifen for a year now! Main problems have been flushes + joint pain! Was really interested in the apple cider vinegar your taking! Could I ask how much you take each day and do you add anything else to the water! Thanks! Gill x

    Hi Gill.

I try to take 2 tblspns in a glass of water every day. Quite strong taste! I buy a brand called Braggs with a yellow label from Amazon. Best value I've found. They reckon to get the best effects to buy the stuff with 'the mother' in it. Full of beneficial enzymes and stuff. Have a read up about it. You'll find it amazing I'm sure all the stuff it can help with. Very good for keeping your digestion in order too I find.

    Xx

Oh good luck. Hope it works for you. My niece has been diagnosed with similar and I'm trying to get her to take it. As a veggie trying to go vegan also I'm trying to encourage her to stay off dairy and gluten. The times she does manage a stricter diet she sees the benefit straight away. But you know what these young ones are like for their kfc's and that! She has eczema too and has been using the ACV for that too.

    Anyway I digress!

Hope it works well for you. xx

I just started talking tamaxifen. Is there vitamins to take to help side effects. I'm concerned about blood clots, hair loss, weight gain, high blood pressure, etc.

    Hi there Rere1954.

I hope you're keeping well. I've been taking Tamoxifen for quite a while now. Have to say I don't like them. But hey ho it's about keeping well. They have made my hot flashes loads worse. I've seen myself standing in a cold shower in the middle of the night at times! Thank heavens the weather's chilling down a bit. Acupuncture is supposed to help with hot flushes.

Anyway in terms of supplements I take a thing called IP6. (Google it). It reputedly increases the oestrogen restricting properties of Tamoxifen. I can't attest to the truth of this but I thought well it can't hurt. I also have been taking coconut oil, turmeric and piperine, milk thistle and aloe vera for months also. They all seem to have helped my body recover from the ravages of surgery, anaesthetic, chemo and rads.

    Good luck. X
