Is anyone else noticing hair loss while using Letrozole? I've been on it for 15 months and I reckon I've lost about a third of my hair thickness. Older ladies in my family tend to have thinner hair anyway but I'm thinking this is connected to the Letrozole? My other treatment was lumpectomy and 3 weeks radiotherapy just over a year ago with a clear mammogram last November.
Hi there, I've been taking latroczole for almost a year following mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy so I lost my hair completely. It's now almost back to its pre-chemo thickness. However I have to confess to using REGAIN which has just been developed for ladies. It may well be a coincidence but things are definitely looking much better.
I must say that my hair is coming back a completely different colour

Unfortunately one in ten will suffer some hair thinning on aromatase inhibitor tablets and it is listed as a common side effect.
The amount of hair thinning usually ceases between a year to 18 months in and settles down. Jackie has been on Letrozole for just over 3 1/2 years and had this for the first year or so but it hasn't got any worse since. Her hair was quite thick to start with (post chemo growth) so isn't so noticeable.
Maybe other ladies here who have had similar thinning issues can offer some advice about anything they did to help with this.
Take care, G n' J
Thank you, good to hear it may let up within a few months. Here's hoping!
Thank you. I'll investigate the Regain. Interesting about the hair colour. Luckily I haven't had to have chemo, just the radiotherapy so mine's still the same colour. :-)
Hi Ceecee, I noticed that I was losing quite a lot of hair. Seemed to be loads of it would fall in the sink when I was combing it. I have now been using Plantur 39. It is designed for hormone induced hair loss. ( decreasing levels of estrogen). It does seem to work. I buy mine from Boots. It costs about £10 a bottle, but could be worth giving a try.

Hi was wondering if anyone suffers from joint pain from letrozole at what degree ? I've only been on it for 4 months and suffering really badly I'm interested particularly with the ladies that have taken it for a year plus. How do you cope or do you just keep trying a brand until one suits ? I know the importance of the med but not sure how much pain to expect..
Take care
Lou xxx
Hello Lou, I've been taking Letrozole since December 2014 so about16 months. I already had arthritis in my knees, wrists and hands so if there is any increase in pain I'm not too sure whether it's just normal or whether the Letrozole is aggravating it. I did notice an increase in my joint pain generally for a few months, probably 4 or 5 but I decided to persevere and it did settle down after a while. I've also had a knee replacement this year and there didn't seem to be any complication related to the Letrozole. But I know others have had some problems. Seems to be an individual thing. Good luck.
Me again. I haven't had ANY side effects with latroozole. The hospital gave me the accord brand but when my GP started prescribing I got CIPLA which apparently just about the worst for side effects. I honestly say I haven't had any problems. I had some night sweats in the beginning but found taking it at breakfast time sorted that out.
