Is anyone else noticing hair loss while using Letrozole? I've been on it for 15 months and I reckon I've lost about a third of my hair thickness. Older ladies in my family tend to have thinner hair anyway but I'm thinking this is connected to the Letrozole? My other treatment was lumpectomy and 3 weeks radiotherapy just over a year ago with a clear mammogram last November.
Yes susie, I also had the hot flushes to begin with, but they gradually settled down and now, after just over a year, it's unusual to get one.
Hi Ceecee,
My hair was thinning due to some other meds that I was on. I started taking Biotin (10,000mcg - Incite Nutrition - Amazon) regularly a couple of months ago, and it has definitely helped (even my hairdresser commented on how much thicker it was). It's about £10 for 200 tablets.
Mags :-)
Hi Lou,
It's definitely worth trying different brands if you don't think that the one you're currently on suits you. I started on the Cipla brand, and was in a lot of pain (I even considered stopping). I changed to Sandoz and felt better even after a couple of days. Some find that Sun Pharma suits them best. It may be worth looking for the thread 'letrozole side effects' as there is quite a lot of info regarding people's experiences there.
Mags :-) xx
Thank you Mags and everyone, there seems to be a range of possible remedies. I'll let you know how I get on.
Hi Ceecee152, Congrats on finishing your treatment. I was diagnosed June ‘15. I had a lumpectomy, chemo & radiation. I’m on Letrozole as well since Feb. ‘16 & my hair has thinned a lot. I’m nervous because I may have to be on this for perhaps 10 years the medical community is recommending now. So I’m not sure but it may get worse by then. I’m looking into trying to keep what I have. I do take a supplement for nails & hair. Best wishes to you & continued good health.
Hi Pattitsa, thanks for your reply. The best thing I do is to have a very soft perm on the crown of my head every now and again which seems to help and Ive stopped getting it dyed to help the condition hopefully. But I have to say it's still thinning and I have another 16 months to go. I'm going to keep on keeping on. :-) Best wishes for your recovery and stay well.
Hi lovely people
I was chatting with an ex-poster and a nurse
Sea kelp she reliably informed me
Take 2/3 daily for a week or 2
Then 1 daily
Head of lush hair to the extent my OH is OMG your hair is better every day
Sister is annoyed as my hair is growing back a lovely colour
Avoid colouring for as long as you can until the hair is as strong as you.... iffy issues with colouring if you have been on chemo or RT apparently
Note to you all ...... I am no medic or hairdresser
Just been around the block

Hi all , I was talking to a knowledgeable friend yesterday about my thin patch on top , due to chemo , I know it will get thicker but I’ve always been a wee bit thin there . She said that ladies who have polycyclic overies can get REGAIN on prescription. Worth asking your GP as hair loss can cause Depression etc .
I’m just being patient as it’s early days for me and I do have a good head of hair , just a wee bit thin .
Good luck and ask about a prescription . They can only say no or hopefully yes .
Love
