Hello, as a family we are wondering if anyone has and recommendations for certain food/herbal remedies that can help with my dads symptoms. He has recently (last week) been diagnosed with brain mets he is going to start radiotherapy within 2 weeks (full head) and he is having a full body scan tomorrow to see if the cancer is anywhere else or if it is from his previous kidney cancer. Any suggestions would be amazing, many thanks
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to hear that your dad has recently been diagnosed with a secondary brain tumour. It must be an incredibly hard time for all the family so it's natural that you want to see if diet and food supplements might help him. I haven't used any myself but if you click on the link I've created you can read information that Macmillan has put together.
One of the most important things to remember is for your dad not to take anything before speaking to his doctor as some supplements can make treatment less effective while others can increase the risk of some cancers developing.
When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your dad's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
