  1. Hallo I have had operation and radiotherapy due soon. As the prognosis is not good and I will not live beyond one year I find it all a shock and it’s such a recent discovery. I’d like to talk to others
  • Yes it is a shock but the prognosis is a guessbased on previous patients they arent you.i was initially given 9 months then extended to 22 to 18 months. Im at that limit now, told just this eeek i can expect at least another 9 months.
    good luck

  • HI

a warm welcome to the online community. Glad that you've found us. So sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

When you feel able to and if you feel comfortable doing so, could you perhaps tell us a but more about the diagnosis? There is a vast range of personal experience within this community.

I supported my late husband through the 3 years of his stage 4 primary brain tumour journey. We were given several timescales throughout that journey and all of them proved to be inaccurate. Timelines are best guesstimates based on published averages and no one is average so please try not to focus on that timeline. (You can read the gist of our tale in my bio)

This is a safe and supportive space so please reach out here anytime. There's always someone about to listen who gets it, someone to hold your hand and to offer a virtual hug when its needed. You're not alone. We've got you.

It’s always good to talk so please remember that you can also call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support, benefit and financial guidance or just a listening ear.

For now though I am sending you a huge virtual hug and lots of positive energy.

    love n hugs

  • Hi, just adding my thoughts to the others’ - there is no definite answer in this game, and some of us are still hanging in there years after we believed it was all over.

the shock will settle and you’ll learn to live with uncertainty. And to enjoy all the good stuff - it’s still there. Good luck and big hugs xx

  • I’m really glad about your extension Tashie, and here’s the the one after that, and the one after that etc etc Heart
