My husband was diagnosed 2 months ago with high grade glioblastoma. The MDT meeting concluded that because of his medical history it was too risky for surgery and he’s not receiving any treatment. Initially he was quite well and we didn’t need any intervention from District Nurses etc. however he now is struggling with his mobility and we’re stuck in a loop of who to contact about getting him a wheelchair and other support. I just feel as though we’re being left to get on with it and wait for the inevitable.
Sorry to hear this x It is very overwhelming and you do feel lost. Our GP has been very good, I think your GP should be able to arrange services such as palliative care nurses to help. Also a request for any mobility aids can be made via the GP surgery. Maybe use the GP messaging service on the NHS app to ask for someone to call you to discuss what support they can give you rather than try and make an appointment, especially as your husband has mobility issues. From memory I don't think that the NHS loan wheelchairs but when my Dad needed one I hired one via the Red Cross. I hope this helps and know that you are not alone xx
We got a lot of equipment from The Community Neurological Rehabilitation Service.

HI Pattimac
a warm welcome to the community. So sorry to hear about all that's going on.
I agree with the others. Speak to your GP in the first instance.
I supported my late husband through his GBM journey and when the oncologist advised that there was nothing else to be done for G, he handed us back to the local palliative care team led through the GP. The local team were fantastic and to be honest, it was the best support I had in the entire 3 year journey.
