Hi, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour this Thursday and am due surgery on Wednesday 6th August. Kinda feeling frightened but trying to be brave, just needed to write itdoen to vopesith the reality of the situation.
Welcome. Of course you are scared. I was in your position July 24, a year ago. After complete removal, radiochemo then 6 months of chemo, I now consider myself cured.
youve probably read a lot of negative stuff, and sadly not evry one is as lucky as me, but not all stories end badly!
are you having an awake craniotomy? Do you know ehat type it is?
HI Jorge605f9b
a warm welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about all that's going on. It's only natural to feel scared so please don't be too hard on yourself.
I understand the need to see it written down/to say it out loud and I hope that reaching out here has helped a bit.
I supported my late husband through the 3 years of his stage 4 brain tumour journey. He had an awake craniotomy about 5 years ago and coped really well with the surgery itself and was home within 48 hours.
There's some general info on the main website about craniotomy surgery that might help here. Here's the link What is a craniotomy? | Macmillan Cancer Support
Every brain tumour is unique and no two diagnosis are identical. The people best placed to give you information are your own medical team however here's some general info from the website (its not intended to scare you) Understanding primary brain tumours | Macmillan Cancer Support
