I was diagnosed in November 23 with lung cancer that spread to my brain. Had my first surgery in February, then another in March to wash out an infection where they removed the bone. Was due to havlung surgery in March where they told me my disease had progressed. It can not be cured just controlled by treatment, was told today, I'll probably not be able to drive again, or go back to work full time. I don't get it, I was totally fit and healthy up until then.
Hi Terminal 75 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to your brain and I can totally understand how you can wonder how you've gone from a fit, healthy person to someone with an incurable disease in the space of 6 months.
As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend a few more for you to join where you'll connect directly with others who have a similar diagnosis.
The first two are the lung cancer forum and secondary brain cancer forum which are great place to ask questions and share experiences around treatment. The third group is the living with incurable cancer forum which is specifically for people with an incurable or terminal diagnosis, where you can discuss your feelings openly.
To join any or all of these forums, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
