Hello

I am new here and joined as my mum has recently been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour.  It's a massive shock to us all as she only went to hospital due to a fall and as she is on blood thinners a CT scan was done.  This is when they spotted the tumour.

To say I am devasted is an understatement, we are awaiting an appointment with the specialist to see where we go from here.

She is still in hospital at the moment because she is in no fit state to go home.  She is confused and disorientated which the doctors say could be a combination of the fall, anxiety and her brain problem.

She is still having bursts of humour and has told us she doesn't want "the alien" in her head.

I just love her so much :-(

This was 3 weeks ago so here is an update.  The tumour is unoperable we are waiting for a nursing home place for my mum and they have said only 3 months which takes us to November.

  • HI Lallith

a warm welcome. So sorry to hear about your mum. Life's too cruel.

I can empathise with what you are going through. My husband was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour in Sept 2020 and ultimately a terminal diagnosis. He's still physically in incredible shape but is slipping mentally. He doesn't refer to his tumour by name but does refer to his "jelly brain" . There's a lot to be said for holding onto that sense of humour however dark.
