Hello,
My 19 yo nephew was recently diagnosed with a right brain tumor and underwent a Stereotactic Volumetric excision on May 16th. The pathology was confirmed by two pathologists : Astrocytoma, Grade 2-3, IDH1 Mutant Positive, and KI-67 5-10,000. William, my nephew is currently scheduled for his surveillance brain MRI on August 12th. His neurologist informed him and my sister that he does not need radiation and chemotherapy. My sister and her husband are having a tough time dealing with the possibility of William's tumor recurring. They are in the process of joining a support group. My brother and myself and the rest of the family are very supportive especially for their emotional needs. My sister is hoping that our government will fund the FDA to expedite curative brain cancer treatments especially like the one in Japan that uses the Herpes Simplex Type One virus to kill Glioblastoma (G47 Delta) approved June 2021.
Thank you all for taking time to read my post.
Denise
HI AuntDenise
a warm welcome to the community. So sorry to hear about your nephew's diagnosis and all that your family are going through. Life is too cruel at times.
This isn't a pathology I have any personal experience of but that sounds like great news that radiotherapy and chemo aren't required.
Please reach out here any time. This group is a safe supportive space and there's always someone around to listen and offer their support.
