I'm getting an oral form of chemo and have had no side effects though a low while cell count due to infection has caused a pause in treatment. Hope it goes well for you.
Hi Carnation Do you know which chemo you’ll be having and we might be able to give you a few tips? Please bear in mind as well that the reputation of chemo is sometimes worse than the actual experience? x
Just seen on another post that you have 2 affected lymph nodes so I’m guessing that you’ll be having capox? I’ve attached a couple of posts below which may help?
Six months of capecitabine only. The value of oxaliplatin reduces with age and as I understand it tends to have more side effects. Your oncologist will advise you which might be most beneficial to you but you can chose which option to take.
Hello Carnation Please don't worry too much, chemo is very 'doable'. I did 3 months of Capox a year ago , one day oxy drip at hospital for 2 hours or so then 2 weeks of pills, a week off,then repeat . The side effects can be very minor and very varied but most common is 'peripheral neuropathy' where your fingers recoil at anything cold ,sometimes affects the feet, too. But it really is not that bad-I never felt ill, never lost my appetite and slept pretty much ok , so long as I avoided touching anything remotely cold! That neuropathy quickly subsided after I ended chemo.
