I’ve had my covid test and picked up the bowel prep ready for Monday mornings Polylpectmy . The pre assessment nurses comments are going around in my head .... lengthy procedure, more experienced surgeon .... I had a sigmoidoscopy 2 weeks ago thinking if something was found I would have a biopsy but they didn’t instead I was booked in for a colonoscopy and polypectmy. The reason why I had the sigmoidoscopy in the first place was a had a Pet Scan in Oct which showed a suspicious primary cancer in the sigmoid and a suspicious groin lymph node . The polyp is 2cm and I have definitely convinced myself it is cancer . This year has been quite shit as I was also diagnosed with a rare disease called Takayasu and am on steriods and Methotrexate which is a kind of chemo drug ( low dose though )I have been prodded and pokes and been in various machines the last 18 months but the thought of the polymectomy not working and having to have surgery feels me with dread - I know you mustn’t let your thoughts run away but goodness it’s hard.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
It sounds like you've had a tough few months and it's natural to have worries about the polypectomy not working.
Having not had this procedure myself I can't make any useful comments but replying to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussions list where it'll be more easily seen by people who will have experience.
Wishing you all the best for next week.
