Hello,
We have just been told today that our 12 year old son has colon cancer. We are understandably devastated. We don't know the extent...or have a treatment plan yet... but are meeting with doctors tomorrow.
Another reason that this is particularly devastating is that I (his mum) was diagnosed with breast cancer in October and although I am well on the road to recovery, I am still undergoing treatment.
Life can be very cruel.
Would love to hear other people's experiences of how they have managed with children in a similar position.
Thank you x
Thats awful. Im not in that position but I can only wish you and your son well!
Hello, I have not been on the forum for some time and so this is late but my goodness this is so young- my heart goes out to you all. There is a really frightening rise in young onset bowel cancer but this is very young indeed. I don't have children (I had an ovarian tumour removed first, now have early onset bowel cancer so in both cases not really possible) but I am quite involved in research- well a little- only as a patient- I am sure it is the furthest thing from your minds but the team may want to use his case for research- it's so important we learn why this is happening.
I hope you have a really good team supporting you and your son and there is a plan in place now and you're getting all the help you both need. Lots of love
