Hi
I am just about to finish my 4th and last round of Capox. I am finding some of my symptoms are getting worse. I have been having some pain in my left side, going to the toilet at least 4 times a day with greater urgency than before. Could this be due to the radiotherapy and the chemotherapy causing issues with my diverticulitis? I am due to see the Colorectal surgeon soon. Should I mention this to him
Hi TickN25 The going to the toilet is a known side effect of the chemo and side effects often increase throughout the course of treatment - this will hopefully improve once your chemo has finished. It might be worth mentioning the side pain to the surgeon - as you say it may be due to your diverticulitis but worth checking it out while you’re at your appointment
Take care

It is over 15 years since my anterior resection and high dose radiation treatment. The first year after treatment was pretty difficult, with random and explosive toileting being a problem and causing difficulty leaving home. It did gradually get better, but in recent years I have had a new normal, which is fine and I am grateful o. A daily basis for the success of my treatment. But I am still compromised with difficult toilet needs.
The reason for my note is that the last six months has been brilliant, regular and predictable toilet needs opening up all sorts of possibilities. What's the difference? I had put on weight and am using monjaro weight loss drug. It has a reputation for causing digestion and toilet problems, but the opposite is true for me.
Is it a coincidence?. I don't know, all I can say is that my life has suddenly changed. Maybe it's the diet, maybe difference in eating schedules, maybe just a reduction in the volume of food, or the protein forward diet. I don't know, and this isn't a recommendation, but its worth a conversation with your medical professionals, because I know how awful the post treatment can be
Hi Greg
I am trying to get put back on Mounjaro as I had to come off it for my treatment. My diabetes nurse will only represcribe it if my colorectal team agree. But I have put on 5kg since coming off it back in December and constantly feel hungry and my blood sugars are and have been very unstable and caused me to have sores on my skin. So I hope after getting all clear next week he will say I can go back on it. I found it good for all aspects of my life.
