Feeling very emotional

Oh I am so sorry to hear that what a set back for you both! Hopefully they will get on top of the infection quickly. I’ve eventually had confirmation the picc line will be removed next Wednesday and a new one put in and treatment to recommence the same day. They have stopped antibiotics as my infection markers are fine. Please keep us posted about Simon. Sending you positive thoughts and love x

Hi Rosie13 I had exactly the same! I felt rubbish and was passing a foul smelling liquid out of my back passage (despite having a stoma) then it turned to blood so I went to a and e. They admitted me the next day and a scan showed that I had an infected fluid build up behind the bowel rejoin which isn’t uncommon apparently. My CRP blood test was into 3 figures and should be less than 10. They initially drained it by putting a drain/catheter into my right buttock during a CT scan - they said they’d drained a lot of the fluid off but I still had the tube in draining into a bag fastened to my leg for about 6 weeks.

Hopefully things will be a bit more straight forward for Simon and they can get him back on the recovery path quickly x

Thanks for that good to hear others experience. He has a stoma a nephroscopy bag and now a catheter bag.

How many weeks after your operation?

My op was 16/11/2016 and I was readmitted around 29/12 - I remember hearing the new years eves celebrations going on while I was in! x
