Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Well this will make you smile. Rufus was exhausted after trying not to get cut and ended up like this lol it won’t upload as too large but ended up laying on his side and would not move so his cut is not as good as Christine would like xx

  • Hi Scarlet we are having a pet scan now before next meeting on the 12th because last year his Cea marker were 9 then 11 Ct showed nothing but a pet scan showed 2 cancers tummy and small bowel removed in May so we will have pet scan to see if nodules have grown or anywhere else Cancer is hiding before treatment chat on the 12th.Just feel Cancer will just travel through blood to every part and will never be free it is soo cruel just no break in 2 years hugs to you xxxx

  • Morning Vicky what a night how can you sleep when all you have to think about is Cancer appointment blood test etc.I didn't realize Les has the nodules I quess while treatment is being offered we have something to focus on we will know for sure on the 12th December after pet scan where the cancer is apart from lung and if they have grown the markers tell us we have a lot of activity of cancer. Has Less a cough Simon has always had a dry cough but recently it is wet and pain las week in shoulder blade but he has   pain all his joints.xx

  • Sorry MAGGIE not Vicky my head is a mess xx

  • Hi Maggie Hugo has a bad habit of scratching the sofa to get our attention and he knows where the treats are and keeps tapping the cupboard. We have to play games to feed him he is a pain so in the morning take dry food to lake pretend to feed the ducks Hugo will then eat out of my hand but won't eat dry food at home then chicken or mince in the evening xx

    1. Morning Court thankyou again for your good advice if he wasn't high risk las year had 2nd Cancer in tummy and small bowel only found because his Cancer markers were rising found on pet Scan so his lung ones on the Ct were small 3 weeks ago but since then his markers have doubled We are hoping after the pet scan the nodules have not changed and no more Cancer anywhere I thing my mind is thinking if the 2 nodules are tiny why again are the Cancer markers rising quick hugs to you xx
  • Hi Jkee. Les does not have a cough but stopped smoking when they said they could operate on his liver. Like you dreading the next scan. We don’t seem to have had a break in 2 years. I can’t believe how strong the men are. Rufus will eat anything and constantly barks for attention but he has been great for Les as he idolises him and can do no wrong. Let us keep our chins up as mine keeps drooping down and is making me look ancient xx

  • Hello Ladies!

How are we all. Stupid question I know. Just reading through your posts and seems you are all still on that rollercoaster. Jkee it's ok you got me mixed up with Maggie your head will be everywhere just now. Maggie what a shame Rufus wouldn't sit to have his coat cut. I have to take Jack next month to get his done he is like a `scraggy rat` just now.  They tell me when he is there he is `a wee sweetheart` so I take their word for it. Was my birthday yesterday just another low key one again. Seeing William and Nicole at the weekend they are working through the week so couldn't get over. I have Myla early tomorrow too as William doing overtime again. Took my sister for her flu and covid jag yesterday (nice way to spend your birthday) she is doing ok but today she came in saying she felt really tired I'm just putting it down to the jabs she got yesterday and will keep my eye on her. Yes we never get a break from this Jkee do we? Although my sister is fine just now it is always in the back of your mind will she stay like that. She's 73 next month so she is getting on physically she is still that little bit slower but I forget she is still recovering. As usual sending you both love and strength to get through all you are going through. Take Care.

    Vicky xx

  • Hi Vicky. Happy belated birthday to you. Nothing new about celebrating even now.  Yes we are still on a rollercoaster Jkee and I and of course you with your sister. Rufus playing up so have to go the little so and so.  Barking for nothing xx

  • Evening Vicky lovely to hear from you a happy birthday for yesterday glad your sister is well I think the Covid vaccine will give her a side effect the next day. We are still in the black hole but wake up everyday not knowing how the day will be but same as Maggie Hugo makes Simon take him for a walk when he is well a special bond his dog not mine . Take care xx
