Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Angie it is not toothache but an infection after an infected tooth was extracted on 23. It is very painful and been on antibiotics since Friday. It looks disgusting. Hopefully it has not spread to the bone and the antibiotics work xx

  • I forgot yes I was angry but I have more things to think about. My old friend in Australia who I known since 1st year senior said she would come at a drop of a hat as it is only a flight away. Flight away more like just over a day. She has been a good send even though she is 10000 mikes away. Some friends who you thought were really good friends turn out different. Hey ho as they say xx

  • It must be very painful hopefully the antibiotics will start to work soon or may be you need a stronger antibiotic good luck thinking of you x

  • Hi angie.  Yes it is very painful. Hopefully antibiotics will kick in soon. I think I might go and see the dentist to make sure it has not gone into the bone as I was hoping it would because lots of better. I have so much to do as well and can’t bend due to the throbbing.

    how are you coping xxx

  • Hi Helen!

Oh hugs to you!HeartIs that you past the 2 year mark! I still have that to come in June. Yes I get what you mean about it being different. Still can't comprehend some days that Jay is actually gone. So much I want to share with him but can't. Take Care of yourself lovely. Thinking of you.

    Vicky xx

  • I am doing ok thank you , hope your infection is improving good luck with the new chemo xx

  • Unfortunately I have to go on another antibiotics as it amoxicillin is not working and it going to cost £160 this is ridiculous as it is a private prescription from the dentist and as you know getting a NHS dentist is impossible. I have been with this dentist for 20 years and he went private so I pay £15 a month. I am not sure what to do in this circumstance.  I hope the chemo goes okay. I am pleased you are doing okay Angie xxx

  • Dentists are so expensive now it’s madness , I hope the new antibiotics work for you especially at that price .

it must be awful for you coping with all you got going and an infection like that as well  thinking of you x

  • Thank you Angie. I must admit it is the first time in over two years that I have felt crap and not been able to do anything like ironing etc.  I am sure they will.  I hope you are coping with your situation as we all know how lonely it can be and very difficult. Sending you hugs and love xx

  • How’s the infection in your tooth Maggie?? hope it’s clearing up .

hope the chemo is going ok for both Simon and les’s , bill is on his 2nd week off chemo although he doesn’t have any more energy than when his on it and back to chemo the 19th so not much of a break .

looks like a nice sunny warm weekend here so that will be nice hope you get some good weather where you are too . Take care  xx
