Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • Has he got any bruising there? I remember having backache after my op and they said that the operating beds are very hard so wondered if he was still a bit bruised from it? x

  • HI Maggie!

Yes Karen is right every opportunity I took if I thought Jays temperature was too high/low He didn't thank me for it though continually telling me not to phone anyone but I just didn't listen to him in the end and just as well as he ended up getting sepsis 4 times. But it was the 4th unfortunately along with the advancing cancer that finally took him as you all know. Yes if in any doubt Maggie phone someone may be something and nothing but better safe than sorry. Take Care sending Hugs

    Vicky xx

  • Thanks Vicki and Karen. I am going back in to check him again. I will keep you updated. Xxx

  • Sorry Maggie just read your details Simon did have back ache from the epidural but he was on tramadol which helped. Having the runs is what needs to slow down bless him I know he will not want to go in but if you can just get advise would help xx

  • Don’t say sorry Jkee. He has just got out of the bath and gone back to bed.  I will ring tomorrow as he told me not to ring as when I rang for advice on Sunday they wanted him in.  I am staying up for a while to see how he goes. He had a go at me for fussing.  I just feel like crying like you mentally, emotionally and physically drained. Xx

  • How is Les today hope he had better night you can never relax EVER like you Simon sleeps in spare room I leave bedroom door open and listen out for ever noise when he goes to the bathroom I wait for him to go and settle he wake around 5am in morning not to disturb me he watching tv in bedroom to see him first thing how are you any pain are you ok if he goes in cupboard for paracetamol I am saying what the matter have you got headache how long? Has headache gone you sure so carry on fussing shows you care xx

  • Hi Jkee. No we can’t relax. Got daughter to come round and she had a word with the ward. They want him in to check. He has not really eaten for 2 days or drank and is very weak. I keep a diary of everything .  Daughter coming back in 20 minutes and if temp still up she said he is going to hospital whether he likes it or not. Just had 2 paracetamol so no doubt his temp will go down. Gosh this is constantly keeping us on our toes and the worry is dreadful xx

  • So sorry you are having to deal with all this, hopefully your daughter will take him in and get checked over sending you a hug
