Jkee when did you start introducing other food. He had the runs last night and said the bowl came in handy next to the bed, he is sleeping in the other bedroom, he can’t make the toilet at the moment but I said I am not bothered as it will all work out okay in a few weeks. He has stopped taking paracetamol as well. Did you introduce after 4 weeks xx

Maggie it sounds like the laxido is working if he has the runs now I would think he needs to go back to 1 not 2. We did start the small amount after 4 weeks Simon lived on chicken cup of soup and mash even now is diet is still limit and his toilet habits are not normal but to be expected x

They told him to stop laxido.  He has docusate and senna. They did not say anything about a different diet but I looked on dr Google and found it. He is worn out.  He takes 2 docusate am. 2 docusate pm and 2 senna. He has to take this until he feels better.  It is so hard what to do and stressful as you know to watch xx

IT is difficult we have to be a doctor nurse cook and wife lol at least the senna worked but he will not want direahea so I would make sure he has had lots of water to replace fluids today and see what tomorrow brings . Hopefully he won't need a laxative if he can eat to make it solid I am sure it will settle xxx

Thanks jkee. He has been asleep most of the day and has not drank much at all.  Another worry.  You are right, wife, cook, nurse and general run around to make sure they are comfortable.  As he has mor had chemo his feet and hands hurt and is feeling the cold more. Just took a glass of water in for him so we will see how it goes. Mash and chicken again for tea.  In sickness and in health we are there for them.

Help. Les now has low back pain and is finding it difficult.  Any advice would be appreciated.  His temp went up to 38.1 took two paracetamol and gone back to normal.  Has not drank or eaten today. He said not to ring the ward for advice as he does not want to go back in.  Up all night with loose stools and sleeping a lot . Advice would be appreciated.

Hi Distraught You must ring the ward! He may have an infection or could have a leak where they’ve rejoined things? Please give them a ring and if it’s something and nothing then your conscience is clear. I’m sure PattyK will say the same as she had to do this with Jay x

He won’t let me.  I am going to wake him shortly. He was in the day before and everything including bloods were okay. I will check his temp and see what he says.  Thank you.  I am absolutely drained xx

Oh that’s good that his bloods were ok - my CRP (which is the infection marker) was into 3 figures and it should be less than 10! Is he eating a low residue diet? There’s a few ideas here - it’s meant to be gentle on the bowel?

Hi Karen. I have been giving him a low residue diet attached.  He is just so tired and only had a few cornflakes with milk this morning. We were not told what he could eat as they said anything on the 23 June the day after his op. 

I am just so worried after he was doing okay and now so weak.  It is his lower back that is bad but he did have an epidural as well as a GA and in theatre 6 hours xx
