Hi everyone

I'm Steph from the Community team Slight smile

Here is a new thread for carers, family and friends. This is a space for you to chat, share experiences and support each other through issues related to your loved ones bowel cancer.  The previous thread will shortly be locked as it was getting rather long which can make it difficult to navigate.

Please remember that we also have other dedicated spaces on the Community for carers, family and friends. These spaces exist so you can support each other away from members of the forum who might be dealing with their own cancer diagnosis:

Family and friends forum

Carers only forum

Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum

You would be welcome to set up another new thread like this in one of the above forums. Please just let us know if you would like any help?

We hope you will continue to find lots of support from each other and the Community. We're here to help, so please do let us know if you have any questions or support needs by emailing us at community@macmillan.org.uk

  • This is his 3td different chemo but unfortunately the adrenal one is still growing and not working with this chemo. There was talk about radiotherapy for that but we have to wait and see. I just hat getting the letters that spell it out in black and white. This chemo is taking its toll on both of us. Love me xx

  • Thank you for your replies, I was wondering how everyone was

My husband is on his third line of chemo too, Avastin and Lonsurf and the usual scans every 3 months. We are still not sure if it is working, as the CEA has increased dramatically and even the consultant doesn’t know why. The next scan in December will be more revealing I expect. I just hope they are not missing something though.

He has recently been given injections to counteract the low white blood cells, so now hopefully won’t have to miss cycles anymore.

All the best to everyone x

  • I also hate the Consultant letters arriving, they always seem to reveal so much more than the actual consultation, my husband doesn’t even look at them! X

  • Exactly what my hubby is on. He has the runs and sickness with lonsurf. It is awful and feels weak xx

  • My hubby reads his and then tells me to read them. I really don’t want to as it is never ever good news. Just for once it would be good to have good news even if they say stable I would be happy. The tablets help me cope better but still can’t put the weight back on. Hugs to everyone xxx
