Minus 2 days before the colonoscopy

Hi all.  Sorry to keep on and on with my panic attacks... I managed to scare myself so much that I can't really concentrate on anything and I feel such a fatigue and stress...

Friday I will have the colonoscopy.  More and more convinced that my symptoms are a death sentence...

I now feel that I could have the cancer in 2 places, rectal and ascending colon. Possibly both blocking bowel movements.  I feel very tired (stress...) pain and bloating all around the colon (left and right) and there definitely is something stopping the poop so that I can't go unless I take 3, 4 cosmocol...

Any good stories to cling on? (I have already read a couple...)

Thanks

Marco

  • Hi again Marco

Your BCG treatment is that immunotherapy.?

I’m only asking as I don’t know what it is

If you’ve had treatment and are being monitored does that mean it’s only months since last check

Bowel cancer is slow moving and if you’ve had treatment then hopefully you are fine it’s just stress.

Good luck Friday. I’ll be thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed

  • Hi mpb1963, our imagination can make us think of all sorts of things but remember, thoughts are not facts. Be kind to yourself and hopefully the colonoscopy can provide you with some good news. I have my first colonoscopy since my  bowel cancer treatment finished on 12 June. I am putting the procedure to the back of my mind until I have to take the prep. We all suffer from some form of what can only be described as scanxiety . Stress can cause our bowels to go on strike so this may not be helping your body function properly, wishing you good luck on Friday and we have all been where you are xx

  • Thanks Ann. BCG was immunotherapy but for my bladder cancer. This colonoscopy is the first since my symptoms pointed to bowel cancer, a couple of weeks ago. So, another primary. Can't believe my good luck...

My problem with this colonoscopy though are all the sinister symptoms...

  • The symptoms can be exacerbated by the stress.

I thought I had cancer everywhere including my hand. I kept getting cramp when I went to bed. It was probably the tension I was carrying

It won’t be long and you will have some answers.

I knew instantly I saw the Ghoul on the screen

Try and do something you enjoy to pass the time

  • I know you’ve already read my profile Marco but just to add that I became friends with 2 ladies who were diagnosed at the same time as me in 2016 and they’re both still cancer free. A lot of people on here are wanting support during treatment and once that finishes they leave the board and get on with their lives.

Please don’t refer to your symptoms as a death sentence - there’s been 2 people on here recently who’ve had colonoscopies that have shown other issues like diverticulitis or piles, colitis, ibs - and even if it does - and it is an if at the moment -  turn out to be bowel cancer then there is a lot of treatment available.

  • Thanks Karen. I know I am being irrational.  But this is the second time in my life I have been so irrational and the first was 2 years ago, waiting for tests on my bladder cancer. I switch from hopeful to desperate in matter of seconds. It's nearly embarrassing... venting my fears and reading good comments here seems to help a lot....

    Thanks

    Marco

  • You vent away

    Karen is spot on.

I got through my bowel cancer with little support but I needed help and advice with my stoma

When I got called back for lung cancer I was not in a good place. Even now

We are all different. Just get through the best way

My husband has had three bowel colonoscopies/ investigations that showed firstly polyps , then IBS lastly diverticulitis.
    No cancer.

  • Can I ask what stage was you cancer?

  • You can ask anything you like - I was T3N1M0 so the tumour had grown into the outer layer of the bowel but not through it, I had 17 lymph nodes removed during surgery of which 2 had signs of cancer, and I had no spread to other organs x
