Had ascending colon and partial transverse removed Friday by keyhole. Home and walking about but day 5 and bowel not opened , just small gas releases. Only taking fluids (soup, porridge). Anyone had similar problem getting going again ?

Some people have mentioned chewing some gum stimulates the reflex !

Hi, Popsg, it also depends on whether you are still on a low fibre diet. It can take a few days for the bowel system to fill back up as well. It sounds like your liquid diet is not causing poop,, to put it bluntly!! Take care, and if you are concerned, ring your nurse for advice.
