Hello, I’m on the last round of chemo at the end of this month. It’s the strangest feeling. They said it’s scans now.
surgeon said he doesn’t plan on seeing anything as I now have a stoma. No reversal as it was so low down.
But those scans are my new fear. When does it ever become normal.
thanks for listening
Hello HelenBK
Well done getting to this point with your chemo, nearly at the end, you should be very proud of yourself! I hope you have a nice treat lined up for yourself.
I finished my chemo 3 months ago - it is a strange feeling isn’t it. I had my post chemo scan 6 weeks after finishing and I did have a bit of scanxiety before the results, which were clear, I guess that's likely to be the case for future scans etc. I also have a stoma but am hoping for a reversal at some point.
I’m not sure if things ever return to the normal we knew before we were diagnosed but I guess we learn to live with the new normal and hopefully as distance opens up between past treatment and scans we get a new perspective and it isn’t as all consuming as it once was. Finger crossed that’s the case.
Take Care.
