Hi.

As everyone effected by cancer knows, I will try practically anything to help my wife fight it. I was wondering if anyone has tried anything which they honestly believed had helped them. The reason I am asking is because I have had so many people saying that they know someone who tried this or that and that it had helped them however, I believe that if there was any concrete evidence of anything working, then I am sure our cancer teams will have known about it. People have said that the likes of Green Tea helps or apricot kernels, or almonds etc. etc. have helped so, what do other people think re this?

  • Hi

How is your wife getting on ? I understand where you are coming from . People handed in books the lot of my mum . The only thing she used was Manuka honey as I had heard it had antibacterial properties and it was more to prevent infection during chemo . I should also add since then I have heard you have to run that past your oncologist as it can interfere with some chemo . Not sure what the current view of it is .

To be honest on chemo my mum just focused on getting through the course and getting some calories into her . Off chemo she did take a much healthier approach to her diet . Looking back we did not absorb too much of other peoples advice and just stuck with the oncologist. Primarily just to give us a way forward without getting overwhelmed . One thing I would change would be exercise . Back then I did not know the benefit of even a small walk .
Other than that we just kept it as healthy as she could tolerate . Survival mode I guess !

    Take care ,
